No book can teach us that. Only by engaging and throwing ourselves into practical activities can we become more mature.

Pham Van Quoc Hung - the leader of the Student Volunteer Team (SVTN) of Dai Nam University is a very familiar face to all Dai Nam students. Let's listen to the sharing of this talented, lovable leader, who always burns with youthful enthusiasm for volunteer work!

Pham Van Quoc Hung - Captain of the Student Volunteer Team of Dai Nam University, is always active and takes the lead in the Team's activities.

Meeting Hung on a chilly late winter afternoon, listening to Hung talk about his "fate" with Dai Nam University and the SVTN Team, I felt how mature and "old-fashioned" he was. Pham Van Quoc Hung, born in 1997, is currently a final year student in the Faculty of Information Technology (IT), member of the Standing Committee of the Youth Union, Captain of the SVTN Team of Dai Nam University. Growing up in Son La, in a family with a revolutionary tradition, the "rich kid" always wants to "make a mess", wants to experience new things and in a "random" moment, Quoc Hung officially started his "fate" with the Faculty of Information Technology and the SVTN Team of Dai Nam University.

I always aspire to do what I like so that when my youth is gone, I won’t have to say “if only” and sit there regretting. To me, Dai Nam University and the SVTN Team are my second family, the members of the Team are like my own family members…”, Hung said.

Quoc Hung (middle) - If it's not SVTN Dai Nam team, I won't join any other team.

Right from the beginning of the story, Hung showed the qualities of a leader with his calmness, gentleness and his ability to speak to attract listeners. Hung said that in August 2015, he enrolled in school and in October 2015, he joined the SVTN Team as a collaborator. Actively participating in all the activities of the Team in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, the young man has grown up a lot day by day.

During 4 years of studying at the school, Quoc Hung and the DNU volunteer team have traveled to many corners of the country.

“Those are the cold winter nights with my “teammates” distributing porridge to the homeless; the meaningful green summer campaigns; the seasons of meaningful cakes full of love; the thorny volunteer trips to the highlands... Accompanying the activities of the SVTN Team, I got to go to many places, meet many people, witness many stories, many unfortunate lives... helping me to sympathize, love and share, thereby living more responsibly towards myself, my family and society", Hung confided.

And the biggest lesson the young man learned from volunteering is that doing anything requires heart, vision and reason. “Volunteering needs to come from the heart, not just for show and must be reasoned. What comes from the heart will touch the heart…”, Quoc Hung shared.

The young man also shared that knowledge in the classroom helps improve professional qualifications, which is a "necessary" factor to build the future. Real-life experiences help fill the gap in soft skills, build the right and positive attitude, and develop a complete personality. This is a "sufficient" factor to create success.

"No book can teach us those things. Only by engaging and participating in practical activities can people become more mature...", Hung emphasized.

“Volunteering must come from the heart, not just for show and must be rational…”

Up to now, while busy with his graduation internship and preparing to graduate, Hung is still enthusiastic about the School's volunteer activities, diligently inspiring his juniors, still hoping that they will come to the SVTN Team to experience, learn, and stumble to mature and become more perfect.

Every day, Hung still rushes from his internship to school to train the team. In Quoc Hung’s eyes, there is a fire still burning brightly. Because for Hung, this is his family, and coming to family is only love and there is nothing tiring.

With the desire to contribute, join hands and convey meaningful messages to the social community; create a healthy living environment, bring useful practical experiences to students, the Dai Nam University Student Volunteer Team was established.

After more than 11 years of establishment and development, the DNU Student Volunteer Team has grown stronger and stronger, gathering many outstanding, dynamic, enthusiastic members with a high sense of responsibility for volunteer activities for the community.

Not only conveying humane and meaningful messages to the social community, Dai Nam University Student Volunteer Club is also a "common home" for all students in the school, helping to unite members, educate awareness, responsibility and help young people learn lessons about empathy, love and sharing in life.

Under the direction of the School, the Youth Union, and the Dai Nam University Student Volunteer Team, we are continuing our 11-year journey of dedication and love through meaningful, humane activities that have a profound impact on the community.
