Recently, the program "GenZ Finance" jointly organized by Dai Nam University and Xa La High School was successfully implemented.

This is the opening talk in a series of activities of Dai Nam University in changing the awareness of personal finance for high school students nationwide.

As the name of the program suggests, GenZ Finance is not only a career orientation program for grade 12 students, but also a program that equips high school students with financial thinking knowledge. The program attracted 500 students from Xa La High School to participate with many interactions and positive contributions.

The program attracted the participation of many students.

On the side of Dai Nam University, the program had the participation of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nam (Dean of the Faculty), Mr. Bui Xuan Luan (Deputy of the Faculty), lecturer Le Tuan Anh (Lecturer in charge of the Personal Finance subject) and many outstanding students of the faculty.

Xa La High School had the participation of Ms. Phung Thi Hanh (Principal), Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Ha (Vice Principal), Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (Head of the Representative Board of Parents Association of Xa La High School).

The program also had the participation of many speakers who are experts from reputable career guidance and banking and finance companies in the labor market, such as: MSc. Vu Viet Dung (Chairman of the Board of Directors of KeyPerson Key Personnel Consulting and Training Joint Stock Company), Mr. Tran The Luc (Director of West Hanoi Area - VPBank), Ms. Tran Huyen Anh (Director of Office Company ....), Ms. Pham Thi Hien (Manager of human resource solutions of Top CV Company)

In her sharing about career orientation, Ms. Pham Thi Hien (Manager of Human Resources Solutions at Top CV Company) said: To choose a suitable job, each of us needs to pay attention to three main factors: passion, ability and social needs. When we work for passion, we will work more happily. Doing things that we are capable of will make the work go more smoothly. And doing jobs with high social needs will often have higher income.

Speaker Pham Minh Hien (Recruitment Solution Manager of Top CV company).

Many of us often work in jobs that are a combination of two of the three above factors. However, this combination often leaves us lacking and unhappy in some way. For example, we work in a job that we are capable of, and have high social demands but are not passionate about. With these jobs, we can earn a lot of money but have no joy, and feel mentally deprived in the job. Therefore, the ideal is to find a job that can converge all three of the above factors.

Talking about how to find a career that fits all three criteria for each person, based on her own experience in the human resources industry, Ms. Hien said that first, young people should try personality tests, typically the MBIT test, to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Then, look back at their childhood dreams to determine whether they are still their dreams and whether they want to continue pursuing that passion. And finally, all the jobs currently trained by post-secondary education are useful professions for society, so most of us can earn income from those professions. In addition, companies at the present time are not too concerned about recruiting in the right major but focus more on evaluating the abilities, skills and attitudes of candidates.

According to Ms. Tran Huyen Anh (Director of the International Study Abroad Office), today's society is undergoing a rapid shift in career trends, for example: the trend of working from offline to online, the trend of working with computers, technology... Therefore, we need to equip ourselves with new skills and new knowledge to be able to integrate and update with current career trends. In the era of rapidly developing information technology, we need to always learn and promote the spirit of self-study so as not to fall behind and become global citizens.

Regarding the field of banking and finance, Master Vu Viet Dung (Chairman of Key Person) outlined for the students a panoramic picture of the banking and finance sector. This is a vital sector that is the driving force for the entire economy. Currently, the Vietnamese government is planning to comprehensively develop the banking and finance sector in the period of 2025 - 2030, so the demand for human resources in this sector is very large.

Currently, Vietnam has a large number of units and companies operating in the field of Finance and Banking, including 40 joint stock commercial banks (not including foreign banks with representatives and branches in Vietnam), 100 securities companies, 20 insurance companies, about 20 credit institutions and nearly 200 financial technology companies. Therefore, after graduating from Finance and Banking, students will have the opportunity to work in a variety of fields and positions.

Moreover, coming to the program, Mr. Tran The Luc (Western Hanoi Regional Director of VP Bank) shared that, according to statistics, the salary of employees working in the field of banking and finance is always in the top 4 highest-paying sectors in the labor market. Mr. Luc said that banks are now increasingly participating more and more deeply in the training process of the banking and finance sector of universities, and at the same time, cooperating more closely with universities in accepting interns. Mr. Luc also revealed that currently, many banks even intend to build their own universities. Banks are carrying out all these activities to proactively build a competent, quality and effective workforce for their own business activities.

According to the sharing of Master Vu Viet Dung and Mr. Tran The Luc, to pursue this major, students should register to study TCNH at universities with training programs that are closely linked to practice and highly updated with society, have a team of experts and teaching consultants, have programs to support internships and jobs, and many student activities. With such an educational environment, students will have the ability to access, practice and develop faster in the field they have chosen.

Regarding training activities on Personal Finance, PhD student, MSc. Le Tuan Anh (lecturer at Dai Nam University) also brought a very useful lesson to students on personal financial management. According to the survey, Asians are often not too interested and have many problems in managing personal finances, while teaching personal finance is focused on by Western countries from high school students. Currently, in Vietnam, there are very few schools that train in this field, and Dai Nam University is an honored pioneer in that teaching field. According to MSc. Le Tuan Anh, to be happy, in addition to enjoying life, we also need to calculate and ensure long-term financial security. Financial security and then financial freedom will help us solve our essential needs and then ensure safety and help us satisfy higher needs in life.

To achieve financial freedom, we need to pay attention to the factors of dividing the budget reasonably for essential activities, savings and investment. Regarding how to set up a financial plan, Master Le Tuan Anh introduced to everyone the "6 jars" method with appropriate ratios in the budget: essential fund (55%), investment fund (10%), education fund (10%), savings fund (10%), enjoyment fund (10%) and charity fund (5%) in accordance with the purpose of the names of these funds.

With these funds, the savings fund is the fund that helps us have financial security. Meanwhile, the education fund helps us have a higher income in the future because investing in ourselves is one of the most valuable investments. In addition, with investment funds, if we know how to take advantage of compound interest early, we can make money make money and gain a large amount of profit in the future.

In the program, students of the Finance and Banking Department of Dai Nam University also brought us very useful perspectives on life, spending, saving and investing activities for students so that high school students can prepare themselves in the best financial position when going to university.

At the end of the discussion, teachers, parents and students of Xa La High School expressed their thanks to the program and expressed their joy because their children and students had access to a very interesting and useful career guidance and financial thinking support activity.

With a successful launch, the GenZ Finance program promises to bring many more interesting activities to high school students nationwide in the future.
