"King" of DNU SVTN Team and untold stories

Coming to Dai Nam University as a last choice, participating in volunteering as a coincidence "to try it out", Bui Duc Anh - a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Accounting, Deputy Head of the Student Volunteer Team has matured and changed beyond everyone's imagination. The foolishness, arrogance and "slips" of adolescence have been replaced by the maturity, maturity, responsibility and creativity of a grown man.
Once foolish, crazy, not knowing right from wrong...
Born and raised in Quy Nhon, Bui Duc Anh (1996) had a difficult and challenging time to overcome the temptations of life. The foolishness, arrogance, and recklessness of 18 years old brought the young man very close to long "slips", seemingly unable to turn back.
Bui Duc Anh chose Dai Nam University as a "final" choice.
Meeting Duc Anh on a late March afternoon in Hanoi, the young man shyly talked about his past, about his tattoos and the recklessness of adolescence. Because he wanted to assert himself, Duc Anh went to many universities. And then because of his recklessness, love of fun, and lack of clear life and career goals, no school became the young man's destination.
After three years of studying Mineral Oil in Quy Nhon, Bui Duc Anh dropped out to study in Ho Chi Minh City with the hope of a better new start, " but I was worse than in Quy Nhon". The hustle and bustle of Saigon, with many temptations, made Duc Anh's arrogance and recklessness rise strongly. " I returned to the old path and slid down the temptations of life" .
After dropping out of school, Duc Anh returned to Quy Nhon with the mentality of “giving up everything”, living alone with the outside world. “At that time, I was 23 years old, feeling really confused and scared...”

Dai Nam University gives me "more" than a "final" choice
After more than 2 months of living in isolation from the outside world, watching his parents cry every day because of their “bad” son, Bui Duc Anh decided to “rebuild his life”. With the encouragement and motivation of his parents and brother, Duc Anh took a bus to Hanoi to enroll in Dai Nam University. “Dai Nam is both fate and the final choice for me…” However, this school gave Duc Anh “much more” than the so-called “final choice”.
“Dai Nam University is the third university I have attended. I have not been respected or protected in Quy Nhon or Ho Chi Minh City, but at Dai Nam it is different. The teachers not only teach knowledge but also take care of and teach students the right things in life, just like the declaration of the Chairman of the Board of Directors: “ Anything that harms the student, no matter how small, will definitely not be done. Whatever is best for the student, I will do it with all my heart and soul”…”, Duc Anh shared.
From a fun-loving, impulsive, selfish boy who didn't know right from wrong, Duc Anh gradually learned how to control himself, sympathize, and share with people less fortunate than himself.
From a fun-loving, impulsive, selfish young man, Duc Anh gradually learned to control himself, sympathize, share with those less fortunate than him, and live more responsibly towards himself, his family and society. The Volunteer Student Team - Dai Nam University is the "bridge" that helps the young man mature. "Living more than 1,000 km away from my family, I joined the DNU Volunteer Student Team with the thought of "just trying it out", but the more I joined, the more I was attracted and I really changed..."
The spoiled young master who once “ only knew how to eat, play, and didn’t know how to help others ”, when meeting the old people at Orihome nursing home who had no children or relatives to take care of them; the unlucky old people with leprosy who were shunned by society at Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital, the orphaned children, the homeless poor on winter nights going out to distribute porridge… burst into tears and shared with them with all his heart. “Those were the feelings I had when I was in Quy Nhon and Saigon that I had never known. All of them were enough to show how badly I lived in the past…”

"Brother" of DNU Student Volunteer Team
Sharing with us, Mr. Vu Dang Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University said: “Maybe in the past, Duc Anh was a spoiled brat, but now Duc Anh is an enthusiastic volunteer, always eager to devote himself. You make us admire you for getting up after mistakes and falls. That is a bravery that not everyone can do…”

Currently, as the Deputy Head of the Student Volunteer Team - Dai Nam University, Duc Anh is always thinking and nurturing his own ideas of "reform" so that the members of the Team will become more and more closely connected with each other, truly considering DNU as their "common home". "When I am entrusted with the task of managing and leading hundreds of people, I feel that I have to be responsible and strive to set an example because if I cannot set an example, the "little ones" will not listen and believe in me..."
Commenting on the “second brother” of the Team, Pham Van Quoc Hung - Captain of the DNU Volunteer Student Team said: “ Duc Anh is the right hand man in the DNU Volunteer Team, always has his own way to unite the members of the Team and inspire the volunteers … ”
Duc Anh was awarded a certificate of merit by the school for being the best volunteer student in the 2018-2019 school year.
“There is no “fall” that does not leave scratches and bruises, but what is important is how we stand up from the fall. Thank you to the “common home” Dai Nam University and the Volunteer Student Team for making me who I am today. Thank you to the failures of the past for helping me grow up…” Duc Anh confided.
