With the purpose of "two in one", the 2015 National High School Exam serves both as a high school graduation exam and a basis for university and college admissions. Therefore, many candidates and parents are worried about the difficulty of this year's exam, especially those who take the exam only for graduation and those from mountainous and highland areas.

Director of the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance - Ministry of Education and Training, Mai Van Trinh, said that the 2015 exam will also have certain changes to serve the above two purposes. However, the exam will be set at two basic and advanced levels similar to the high school graduation exam and university and college entrance exam in 2014. In which, the percentage of points for the basic and advanced levels is 60% - 40% of the total score to ensure the classification of candidates.
The exam will be designed to assess the learner's ability, increase the number of questions applying knowledge, reduce the requirement for memorization, mechanical memorization or answering according to a pre-existing pattern. Particularly for the Literature exam, there will be two parts: reading comprehension and writing, in which the percentage of points for reading comprehension accounts for about 30% of the total score. The Foreign Language exam has two parts: writing and multiple choice, in which the percentage for writing accounts for about 20% of the total score.
Many candidates and parents are wondering, with such a structure, Exam 2015  will be quite difficult, especially for candidates who only take the exam for graduation and candidates from mountainous and highland areas. Many teachers said: The sample exam given by the Ministry of Education and Training for schools to refer to and try has some questions that students cannot do without the guidance of teachers.
In Nhan Dan newspaper, teacher Nguyen Mai Hanh, a teacher at Viet Duc High School (Hanoi) also said that this year's sample exam for good and excellent students will not have enough time to do it if they do not know how. On the other hand, the exam is "two in one" so it is difficult for students to recognize.
In response to these concerns, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the content of the 2015 National High School Exam is part of the high school curriculum, mainly the 12th grade curriculum. Illustrative exam questions for each subject with answers have been introduced for teachers and students to refer to in order to visualize the level of requirements of the official exam, thereby reviewing and preparing thoroughly to take the exam.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien requested that high schools and continuing education centers need to implement effective solutions, organize review sessions for 12th graders suitable for each school and each group of students; develop good review plans and content to ensure time, focus on requirements for knowledge and skill standards and pay attention to helping students improve their understanding and application of knowledge. Schools need to coordinate with parents to arrange reasonable review time, ensure effective review but not overload to help students achieve good results in the national high school exam .
