Introduction to the Faculty of Politics, Defense and Physical Education

General introduction
Established on May 31, 2023 under Decision No. 392/QDNS-DN of the Chairman of the Council of Dai Nam University, on the basis of merging the faculties: Political Theory, National Defense Education and Physical Education.

Function
- Organize and implement undergraduate and postgraduate training activities;
- Organize and implement scientific and technological activities;
- Learner management;
- Internal management of the Faculty;
- Perform other functions as prescribed and assigned by the Principal.
Duties and powers
The Faculty performs tasks and powers according to the provisions of the School's Organization and Operation Regulations, specifically as follows:
a) On university and postgraduate training
- Coordinate with the Training Management Department, the Graduate Training Institute and relevant units in organizing and implementing teaching activities of subjects according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; build, review, edit and develop training programs;
- Organize and implement according to the School's training plan;
- Organize the compilation of detailed outlines of specialized courses;
- Organize research, innovation, and enhancement of training efficiency and quality, teaching and learning methods;
- Organize testing, evaluation and management of learning outcomes of learners at all levels and training systems according to the provisions of law and the School; ensure the output standards of learners according to the announced commitments, meeting the needs of society;
- Compile test bank of subjects related to the Faculty's expertise;
- Resolve students' feedback, recommendations, and complaints about exam conditions, exam postponements, and assessment results according to the provisions of law and the School;
- Direct and organize periodic inspection and evaluation of teaching and scientific research activities of departments and lecturers of the Faculty according to the regulations of the School;
- Perform other duties and powers in the field of training as prescribed and assigned by the Principal.
b) On implementing scientific and technological activities
- Develop plans to organize and implement scientific and technological activities of the Faculty in accordance with the regulations of the School; urge and monitor the implementation of scientific topics and tasks assigned to the Faculty and Department;
- Preside over the organization of conferences, seminars, and scientific discussions at the Faculty level; preside over the content, coordinate with relevant units to organize conferences, seminars, and scientific discussions at the School level, write articles to participate in ministerial-level scientific conferences; international conferences... in the Faculty's professional field or assigned by the Principal
c) About learner management
- Coordinate with the Student Affairs Department to carry out student management work according to regulations;
- Participate in political, ideological and ethical education for students, guide students to carry out the training goals and political tasks of the School.
- Directly maintain activities and manage students studying and living at the national defense education dormitory according to the regulations of the subject.
d) Regarding internal management of the Department
- Develop and submit to the Principal for approval the annual work plan of the Faculty;
- Carry out the management of the Faculty's staff and employees according to the decentralization, regulations and instructions of the School;
- Carry out clerical and archival work of the Department and Faculty; establish, manage and submit work records according to regulations;
- Manage, use and protect assets and equipment provided or assigned by the School; comply with the School's financial regulations and the law;
- Implement reporting and statistical regimes according to regulations or requests of the School and competent authorities; comply with inspection and examination work of the School and competent authorities according to regulations;
- Conduct internal inspection and supervision within the Department and Faculty;
- Organize, implement and summarize emulation movements, cultural, artistic, sports and physical training activities, donations..., launched by the School or agencies, organizations and units according to regulations or assignments;
- Report and propose to the Principal about difficulties, problems and solutions to overcome and improve the working efficiency of the Department, Faculty and School.
d) Coordinate with units, organizations and individuals inside and outside the School within the scope of functions and tasks of the Faculty and the assignment of the Principal;
e) Perform other duties and powers as prescribed or assigned by the Faculty or Principal.
Organizational structure
Faculty of Politics - National Defense - Physical Education includes 03 Departments:
a) Department of Political Theory
- Teaching Political Theory courses with 05 courses as follows: Marxist-Leninist Philosophy, Marxist-Leninist Political Economy, Scientific Socialism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam not specializing in political theory at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Lecturers always innovate teaching forms, methods and content, mainly following active teaching methods to inspire students to learn.
LLCT class of students
- On 02/05, students will have the opportunity to study and conduct practical research at the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the Museum of Revolution and History.

b) Department of QPAN education
- Implement teaching according to Circular 05/2020/TT-BGDDT dated March 18, 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training, maintain centralized activities at the dormitory according to military lifestyle. Lecturers both teach and directly manage, so they are attached to and trusted by students.

- National defense and security education is organized on the campus of the school with spacious dormitories, each room is closed, male and female students live in separate areas; training ground, practice ground, flag-raising yard, specialized classrooms for regular defense and security; fully equipped and clean kitchen (canteen), students see studying national defense and security education as both a task and an experience during their student life to grow up.

- During the study period, the organization is organized according to the Army model from squad, platoon, company, operating in a closed manner according to the military lifestyle; teachers are on duty at the student dormitory 24/7 to ensure the best and safest conditions for students with the motto: focusing on propaganda, encouragement, guidance, and inspiration for students to study; combining learning competition with the movement "morning exercise, afternoon sports, evening singing improvement" to create a joyful, healthy, and cohesive atmosphere when studying national defense education at school.

c) Department of Physical Education
The training program applied to all students of the Department of Physical Education includes 03 modules:
- Module 1 (15 sessions): Theory and methods of physical education. This module helps equip learners with basic knowledge of physical education and sports, through which students understand the meaning and effects of regular and long-term physical exercise. Furthermore, learners also grasp the methods, exercises, and ways to prevent injuries so that they can maintain their training.
Students are being guided by teachers to do exercises in Physical Education Theory and Methods.
- Semester 2 (30 periods): Students can choose one of 4 subjects: Martial Arts, Yoga, Dance and Soccer. In the first part of the practical subjects, students will be equipped with basic knowledge of these subjects, to lay the foundation for in-depth and advanced learning in Semester 3.

- Semester 3 (30 periods): Students continue to study Martial Arts, Yoga, Dance and Soccer at an advanced level. The content will guide students to know how to apply the techniques of the subjects into practice. For example, in Martial Arts, students will know how to handle situations when being attacked by bad guys, or in Yoga, students will know how to prevent physical and mental illnesses.

In addition to the training program suitable for the characteristics of each student, the department also organizes activities to develop soft skills, train willpower, and cultivate good qualities for learners such as: Traditional Self-Defense Martial Arts Tournament, Yoga Day and Love Dance Events.
