MSc. Tran Nhu Phong - lecturer at Nursing Faculty, Dai Nam University.
Based on actual survey data from 2000 - 2014, the research work of lecturer Tran Nhu Phong has pointed out extremely important arguments. Specifically:
- Correct knowledge about HIV transmission from mother to child among women aged 15-49 in Vietnam increased very slowly (in 2000, 41.81% of women had correct knowledge, in 2006 it was 45.66%, in 2011 it was 49.58% and in 2014 it was 46.83%);
-Most women know that HIV can be transmitted during pregnancy, however, more than half of women do not know all three ways of HIV transmission from mother to child;
-Socio-economic factors including age, ethnicity, education level and economic status are factors that influence adequate knowledge about mother-to-child transmission of HIV…
These research data are assessed by experts to have high practical value in helping to design public health programs to improve knowledge about mother-to-child HIV transmission. Not only that, the research of Master. Tran Nhu Phong also provides strong evidence to adjust policies to improve women's health in the future.
Sharing with us, MSc. Tran Nhu Phong said: "HIV is not a new disease but its topicality has never been less hot. In the knowledge about HIV, HIV transmission from mother to child is the issue of top concern today. Improving knowledge about HIV transmission from mother to child not only helps improve women's health but also helps design appropriate community health programs to limit and prevent this disease..."
