With much love for Thai An Pagoda, students of the Faculty of Business Administration, Dai Nam University have always accompanied and helped both materially and spiritually to support the pagoda's work, and together take care of and help the orphans currently being cared for by monk Thich Dam Thao.
Thai An Pagoda is located at the end of the field in Bui Xa village, Tam Hung commune, Thanh Oai district (Hanoi). For a long time, this small pagoda has been a shelter for many unfortunate children who were abandoned at birth and were taken care of by monk Thich Dam Thao.
Thai An Pagoda is managed and cared for by only one monk, Thich Dam Thao. This small pagoda, located in the fields at the end of Bui Xa village, has very few visitors. However, in that quiet, peaceful setting, there is always the sound of children's laughter and play.
Up to now, there have been 5 children (2 boys, 3 girls all with the word Tam) that have been taken care of by monk Thich Dam Thao. Monk Dam Thao said that all 5 children have the same situation, being abandoned right after birth for a certain reason and circumstance.
Monk Thich Dam Thao still hopes that one day the children’s parents will come to see their children. However, so far only one child has been picked up. The young mother was a first-year student when she “left” her child at the temple. Nearly a year ago, this “foolish” mother came to the temple to ask for her child back, even though the child’s mother was still in her final year at a university in Hanoi.
The children are playing in the temple yard.
Monk Thich Dam Thao said that many people came to the temple to adopt the children. However, for many reasons, he did not let his children go. Even though his life and his children's lives were still difficult and deprived, even though they had to live on vegetables and porridge, he still waited for the day when the children's parents would come back to the temple to take back their abandoned children.
Fortunately, he received a lot of attention from philanthropists and volunteer organizations. Especially the support of dynamic and enthusiastic students from the Faculty of Business Administration - Dai Nam University.
On weekends, you often come back to the temple to help the monk clean the temple, chop firewood, hoe the garden to grow clean vegetables to sell to help the temple, and clear the grass to make the temple more spacious.
You spend a lot of time taking care of the children, teaching them to learn, singing, playing with them so that they always feel the true love that they have lacked since birth. Students who carry that love in them know what the children need and need to have a better future, they teach them to be disciplined to become good boys and girls, guide them to help teachers with small tasks. No one would think that a 4-year-old child knows how to sweep the yard, take out the trash, pick vegetables, and weed in the garden.
Not only did they help the temple, but Dai Nam students also called on many benefactors to support the temple and the children with food, rice, instant noodles, milk, school supplies, etc. They told us: "We feel very happy because we were able to help the temple in some way. We are so happy that everyone - relatives, friends, and benefactors - join hands with the group to help the teachers and the children more."
It is true that youth is always full of enthusiasm, dynamism and love for difficult circumstances. When we left, looking at the sweat quickly wiped off, the smiles always on the lips of the students while helping the temple, we silently thanked them and were proud of them - students of Dai Nam University in particular and the current generation of students in general.
