Those of you who have participated in the English Discoveries (ED) program this semester must be familiar with this new way of learning at Dai Nam University. However, the ED program is still quite new to students, so you may not have fully exploited the advantages of the program. In this article, I will share some effective ways to learn the ED program.

In addition to the main learning modules according to the assigned program, the ED program also has very useful modules for learners. Let's find out if you know these modules yet!

First of all, there is the Community module, which includes the Discussion Forum section, where students can open discussion topics to conveniently exchange information and opinions with other students on issues of interest to them. The forum can be considered a lively learning tool, helping learners interact directly with each other. The Community module also has a Games section, helping students both learn and entertain themselves through crossword puzzles, quizzes, etc. In this module, students can also update their knowledge through the latest articles in the Magazine section, while improving their reading skills and vocabulary. The articles are written in English, have different levels, and are very accessible. After each article are some reading comprehension questions to help learners understand the article more deeply. In addition, students can exploit the Idioms section to improve their English proficiency.

The Exercise Module is no longer strange to students, because during the learning process, students have performed voice recordings and practiced writing and submitting their work to teachers. However, the ED program has an outstanding feature compared to other online learning programs, which is the automatic grading system. After each completed article, students can check their own writing and edit it promptly before sending the final version back to the teacher. The system automatically underlines unreasonable words/phrases/sentences in the article and sends detailed comments for each error. Students can check their own errors and edit. This is probably not known to many students. What about you?

One convenience for learners participating in the ED program is that they can contact teachers directly on the program interface through the Inbox module, without having to log in to their email address on another application. This makes interaction between teachers and students much easier.

During the learning process, students have reflected on the difficulty of grammar topics. Some students commented that the grammar in the program is not explained in detail, still sketchy, causing them difficulties in the process of learning grammar. The Grammar Book module is an optimal solution. Students can review knowledge about topics on word types/ verb tenses/ and other grammar topics. The topics are presented in the form of video clips as examples, from which they can analyze and help learners understand more about that grammar topic. Students can exploit this module well, then their self-study of English will be really effective.

Learning tools that apply 4.0 technology are very diverse, and English Discoveries is an excellent learning program. With ED, in addition to traditional class hours with teachers, learners can also study by themselves anytime, anywhere. To learn English effectively, it is important that students take charge of their own learning, especially for the Credit training program. Good luck!
