Hanoi: Organizing National High School Exam for 110,000 candidates

On the afternoon of April 15, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a meeting with leaders of 8 universities organizing inter-provincial examination clusters for the National High School Exam in the city. Hanoi is expected to have over 110,000 candidates from 6 provinces and cities taking the exam, including independent candidates.
Of which, Hanoi has 68,219 candidates, Nam Dinh has 15,704 candidates, Ha Nam and Vinh Phuc each have 6,000 candidates. Hoa Binh has 4,500 candidates and Bac Ninh has 8,500 candidates.
Unlike last year, because the nature of this year’s exam is both for graduation and for university and college admission, universities will organize the exam but high schools are responsible for their students. Therefore, 8 universities have proposed to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training about the exam location, exam service costs, and fees for hiring high school teachers to grade and invigilate exams… because the difficulty for many universities this year is that they will have to grade subjects that have never been tested before.
In addition, the schools also requested the Department to allow schools to proactively choose examination locations and then submit them to the Department for approval.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trach, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Academy, suggested that due to the school's location on Highway 5, near Thanh Tri Bridge, traffic will be difficult, so could the school organize exams at locations from the school towards Hung Yen and Hai Duong?
Regarding this aspect, Mr. Nguyen Huu Do, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that according to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, the examination cluster is organized in Hanoi. Therefore, it is impossible for the examination sites to be located outside the city. Therefore, the department will direct high schools to facilitate universities to organize the examination.
Mr. Do also said that the city will establish about 2 exam boards for 9 exam clusters. In addition to 8 inter-provincial exam clusters, Hanoi has a separate exam cluster for 13,000 candidates who only need to get graduation scores.
Previously, on the morning of April 15, the Hanoi People's Committee also established a National Examination Steering Committee with Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich as head of the committee, Mr. Nguyen Huu Do, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training as permanent deputy head of the committee, and leaders of 8 universities as deputy heads of the committee.
