Green Summer 2023: Enthusiastic volunteer campaign of DNU youth in Cao Bang

Another summer has come, bringing with it the positive energy, enthusiasm and youthfulness of volunteer students from Dai Nam University (DNU) to Da Thong commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province. Practical activities, close to the lives and needs of the people, once again affirm the beautiful lifestyle, the spirit of mutual love and support for the community of DNU youth.

“Green Summer” is an annual activity of Dai Nam University Youth Union to promote the spirit of volunteerism and dedication to the community in accordance with the spirit of “wherever there is a need, there is youth – where there is difficulty, there is youth”; creating an environment for training, bonding and igniting the enthusiasm of DNU youth.

This year, the “Green Summer” campaign of Dai Nam University has come to Da Thong commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province. The program lasts 14 days, from July 16 to July 29, 2023.

Light up the country road

Within the framework of the program "Green Summer 2023", the Volunteer Group of Dai Nam University organized the construction and handover of the project "Youth lighting up the countryside roads" with 45 solar lamp posts, worth more than 40 million VND to the government and people of Da Thong commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province.

Free medical examination and treatment for people

On the morning of July 25, the Medical Team of Dai Nam University was present at the Da Thong Commune Health Station to examine and dispense medicine to the people. Here, teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine provided consultation, general health check-ups, specialized examinations in internal medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, nutrition, eyes, etc. for nearly 200 people in Da Thong Commune. At the same time, they donated medical equipment and medicine to the Commune Health Station, and presented 44 gifts to 44 policy households.

Teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine enthusiastically examined the people of Da Thong commune.

Associate Professor, PhD, Associate Professor, Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh - Head of the Faculty of Medicine said: “This trip is of great significance to the teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University; it demonstrates the concern of doctors for the health of the people. This is also an opportunity for students to “practice and fight” with an extremely valuable profession. Only when going into practice, will they understand the great role of doctors. Only then can they strive to become doctors with good expertise, good medical ethics, good heart, good vision... in the future”.

Dai Nam University Medical Delegation donated medicine and functional foods worth 50 million VND to Da Thong Commune Health Station.

Giving gifts to policy families and those with revolutionary contributions.

Le Hong Anh – class YK 15.02 expressed: “I feel very lucky to participate in the volunteer activity of examining and treating patients in Da Thong commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province. Seeing with my own eyes the lives of the highland people and their health conditions, I appreciate what I have more than ever. Thank you to the school for organizing a meaningful trip for us, helping us understand more about life and having the opportunity to practice our profession and medical ethics”.

Gratitude in memory of heroic martyrs

During this trip, the volunteer student team of Dai Nam University participated in the program to celebrate War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27 and lit candles in gratitude at the martyrs cemetery of Thong Nong town organized by Ha Quang District Youth Union and authorities at all levels, and Ha Quang District Party Committee.

This is an opportunity for Dai Nam youth to express their respect and gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed to protect the peace of the nation. At the same time, they remind themselves to strive and study hard to build and develop the country.

Go deep into people's lives

During the campaign, the Volunteer Group of Dai Nam University organized 07 summer activities for more than 200 young people from Long Giang, Da Sa, Son Ha and Lung Lua hamlets. Going deep into the lives of the people with activities: harvesting corn, planting rice, transporting materials to poor households; organizing clearing, general cleaning, leveling the playground at De Rao school; concreting a 100m long section of Son Ha road...

In particular, the volunteer group of Dai Nam University coordinated with the police of Da Thong commune to propagate and support people to install VNeID.

Closing the "Green Summer 2023" campaign, Cao Bang Provincial Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit to the volunteer student team of Dai Nam University and 07 comrades who had excellently completed their tasks. Ha Quang District Youth Union awarded 08 certificates of merit to 08 comrades who had excellently carried out the campaign.

A valuable experience in life

Tran Hoai Phuong - class TCNH 16.02 shared: “Green Summer is both an experience and a challenge for me. It is the first time I am away from home, away from my parents' protective arms after 19 years; learning to adapt to living and working in a group; challenging myself with jobs I have never done before such as cooking for more than 30 people, organizing summer activities for 50 children, digging soil to fill lamp posts... I feel more mature after the trip; receiving a lot of precious affection from everyone. Thank you Green Summer for giving me beautiful memories in my life”.

Nguyen Duy Luan - TTĐPT class 15.02: “Participating in the campaign, I feel like I have grown up, matured and seen life with different eyes. Every day there are very small joys, such as completing the concrete pouring for a section of road, installing the "Lighting up the Countryside Road" project, or simply summer activities filled with the laughter of the children. Happiness sometimes just needs to ignite simple little joys like that. I am very happy and proud to be a part of the 2023 Green Summer team”.
