Great youth experiences with meaningful military training

Defending the Fatherland, regardless of the circumstances, is always sacred and cannot be neglected. Even in peacetime, even if not directly participating in the military, every university student has a military term to study and hone basic military skills, ready to go when the Fatherland needs.

Besides training in professional knowledge, soft skills and foreign languages, Dai Nam University especially values training and education in National Defense - Security for students.

Someone said: "Doing military service for 2 years is like finishing a university degree". That saying is not without reason because when leaving the arms of family, soldiers also broaden their vision of society, life, homeland, and country. In the position of protecting the Fatherland and protecting the people, their inner life becomes more sensitive and profound.

Starting from 2019, students of all training systems of Dai Nam University will study National Defense - Security right at the main campus.

Although university students do not have the opportunity to join the army, each of them can experience that environment through a National Defense and Security course, becoming soldiers with the discipline of a real soldier: folding blankets according to standards, exercising, personal hygiene, eating breakfast and marching together to the lecture hall, to the training ground... In addition, new recruits will have to study and grasp the military guidelines of the Party and State very well; get used to night shifts, sudden alarms, marches... In particular, 1 month without being influenced by technological devices is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in each other, slow down and leave the virtual world behind.

The teaching staff and facilities for national defense teaching and learning at Dai Nam are considered the best today.

After nearly 2 weeks of entering the “military semester”; experiencing the strict and disciplined lifestyle of the army, the “new recruits” of K13 have completed 1/3 of their military journey. With many memorable memories and useful lessons, 1 month of being bruised with the sun and wind of the training ground will certainly be the most wonderful youthful experience in the life of every DNU student.

Being used to a comfortable life, having to conform to strict rules and regulations makes many students feel pressured. However, they do not feel bored or tired, but quickly adapt to the life of a soldier.

Students are not only equipped with knowledge about national defense and security, learn techniques for disassembling and assembling guns, shooting, throwing grenades, and bandaging wounds, but are also trained in a disciplined lifestyle, honing the character of a Ho Chi Minh soldier.

Sharing his feelings during his military training days, student Nguyen Thanh Phong - class TCNH 13.01 confided: “I feel very happy to live in a military environment. Here, everyone is friendly, close and not too influenced by technological devices. If before, each class knew its own class, now I have many new friends. From strangers, we became “comrades” of each other, spent a period of youth together and had beautiful memories together”.

The "girly" girls, weak and weak, who only knew how to study all year round, are now confident in holding guns in their hands, proficient in disassembling and assembling guns, throwing grenades, crawling on the training ground, bandaging wounds, commanding troops, basic military rituals... As for the boys, the military semester is an opportunity to show their strength and strengths.

“Compared to our daily lives with a boring schedule of going to class and coming home, military life has given us memorable memories and a certain maturity in thinking and action. I am sure that after finishing our military training, we will remember this time because it was so fun and wonderful,” Thanh Phong shared.

The young man also wishes that the school would send him to military school for 1 month each year to both train and be ready to leave when the country needs him, and to have more meaningful youth experiences.
