Nguyen Tat Manh (orange shirt on the left) is one of the excellent students of the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University.

Nguyen Tat Manh was born in 1997, born and raised in Dinh Bang - Tu Son - Bac Ninh, in a farming family with a tradition of studiousness. After graduating from high school, Manh chose the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University to study. -Hello Manh! Can you share a little about the "fate" that led you to the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University?

After graduating from high school, while I was struggling to decide which major and school to choose, I happened to read information about Dai Nam University. After carefully researching information as well as career trends in economic law, I decided to choose the Faculty of Law to study. Another reason that cannot be ignored is the school's slogan "Study to change" . I was very impressed and believed that at this school, I would be able to do something to change myself and my future...

Nguyen Tat Manh visited his teachers at the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University before leaving for Switzerland to study abroad.

-Why do so many public universities offer economic law majors, but Manh still decided to choose the Faculty of Law of a non-public university?

In the process of choosing a school and major, I had no concept of public or private schools. What I cared about were the facilities, the teaching staff, the training program, and the learning environment. And in reality, non-public universities have advantages in terms of facilities, the quality of lecturers (all of whom are senior lecturers and excellent lecturers from famous public schools), and the training program (dynamic, modern, constantly reviewed and changed according to the actual needs of businesses...). In particular, Dai Nam students are taught soft skills right from the first semester, helping to equip them early and fully with the necessary skills to have the right attitude towards life and learning from the beginning. That's why instead of choosing to study at a public school with a conventional mindset, I chose Dai Nam University...

-What impressed Manh the most when studying at the Faculty of Law - Dai Nam University?

That is the dedication and love of the teachers for their students. During the learning process, I and the class LKT 09-01 were always urged to study by the teachers in the Faculty. The teachers not only devotedly imparted knowledge but also always listened, understood the feelings, emotions and circumstances of each student.

- Manh has just successfully applied for a full scholarship in Business Administration from HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute - one of the top 10 schools for hotel management training in Switzerland. Can you share about your scholarship application process?

There are 3 factors that help you successfully apply for a full scholarship: university academic performance, scientific research projects and essays. Foreign universities do not care too much about which major you study or which school in the country. However, university academic performance must be good and English proficiency must meet IELTS standards of 7.0 or higher. Scientific research topics are a highlight in the scholarship application.

After researching, I decided to apply for a full scholarship in business administration at HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute in Switzerland. With an essay on the topic “university lifestyle experience” and IELTS 7.5, I received a full scholarship worth nearly 500 million VND from HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute.

Because when I was in university, I was taught very systematically about economic law as well as administrative and legal procedures, so I did not encounter any difficulties in the process of applying for a scholarship.

-Why did Manh, while studying Economic Law, "change" to Business Administration?

Studying law is not necessary to become a lawyer, there are countless careers related to economic law, including business administration. These two majors may sound unrelated, but in fact they are very related and support each other a lot in future work. My plan is that after completing my master's program in Business Administration, I will continue to study for a doctorate in law.

-It is known that before entering university, your English ability was very limited, can you share your secret to learning English?

During my high school years, my English was extremely poor, almost zero. When I went to university, I found the English learning environment at Dai Nam to be very professional and modern. The teachers were good, enthusiastic and dedicated; the number of English credits I had to study was huge. Realizing that this was a good opportunity to improve my English ability to find opportunities to study abroad as well as good jobs after graduation, I was determined to learn English.

I studied at school and self-studied at home in a “slow and steady” manner. I made the most of my time studying in class and lectures. At home, I self-studied by listening to English music, watching movies with and without English subtitles to practice my listening and speaking skills. After my listening and speaking skills were good, I focused on learning grammar.

During my 4 years in college, I never took any extra English classes at any center because I found that the curriculum at school was very up-to-date and complete, the teachers were good, enthusiastic and very dedicated to the students. I even got to study English with native speakers right at school. Learning English is not as difficult as we imagine, as long as you are determined and serious, you will definitely succeed.

-What advice does Manh have for students who are standing at the threshold of choosing a school and major?

You should choose a major that suits your strengths and choose a school that suits your abilities. Try to learn at least one foreign language well, which can be English, Japanese or Korean. Knowledge learned in university is never redundant. You need to make the most of 4-5 years of university to equip yourself with enough basic and specialized knowledge, especially skills (communication skills, teamwork skills, correct and positive attitude towards life, etc.)

-Thank you for sharing, Manh! I wish you a smooth new start in Switzerland!
