For the first time in history, DNU students will take final exams, graduation exams and thesis defenses online.

Faced with the increasingly complicated epidemic situation, in order to have solutions to organize training in the "new normal" conditions, Dai Nam University decided to organize the final exam of the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, graduation exam and graduation thesis defense online.

Choose exam format

Dr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal said: "With the goal of organizing the exam seriously, fairly and accurately assessing the candidates' abilities, Dai Nam University has drafted plans to organize online exams with many different forms of exams. After receiving comments from all staff, lecturers and experts, the school decided to choose a variety of assessment and testing options suitable for the content of each subject, such as: questions, essays with open questions, multiple choice with questions and answers, essays and assignments..."

The form of online graduation thesis defense is carried out according to instruction No. 707/BGDĐT-GDĐH dated May 26, 2021 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Thorough training before the exam

To ensure that the online exam is conducted smoothly, seriously, and in accordance with regulations, Dai Nam University has organized training for all staff, lecturers, and specialists responsible for participating in and operating the exam.

100% of staff, lecturers and specialists participating in organizing and operating online exams are properly trained.

Accordingly, lecturers responsible for creating and grading exams are trained in how to create and grade exams on the online training application; officers and specialists responsible for invigilation and coordination are trained in the process of invigilation, coordinating the Examination Council and defending graduation theses on the online application.

The plan for the second semester final exam, online graduation thesis defense and exam is announced by Dai Nam University on the school's website and fanpage system.

In particular, the school also assigns homeroom teachers to directly disseminate and update information about exam schedules (exam dates, exam shifts, course class codes (exam rooms), accounts, passwords to log in to online training software and other support software as required by the teaching staff) to each student.

Candidates must strictly comply with the regulations of the online exam room.

Specifically, when taking the online exam, students must prepare all necessary equipment (computer, smartphone, internet connection, etc.); be present 30 minutes before the exam time to check the exam system and complete online exam procedures; students must turn on the camera, turn off the microphone and not have any background (filter/background); sit facing the screen; present student ID or photo identification as required by law before receiving the exam papers...

Please note that students who do not turn on the camera or let the camera point in a direction other than their face will be considered to have violated the exam regulations and will not have their scores counted. The invigilators must record video and audio throughout the exam and trace it again after the exam to detect cheating and violations of exam regulations.

Diverse and flexible exam organization methods

The school is equipped with the best facilities so that online exams can take place smoothly, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

For the open exam format, there are two exam codes, even and odd. Candidates with even registration numbers will take even exams. Candidates with odd registration numbers will take odd exams. Students are free to use reference materials during the exam. Candidates can take the exam on paper or on a computer. At the end of the exam time, candidates have 10 minutes to save the file, name the file, compress the file and submit the exam. After 10 minutes, the system will automatically close and will not accept the exam and students will be subject to the highest penalty of receiving a score of 0 for the corresponding subject.

On the very first day of the exam, teachers and students performed the exam procedures very smoothly.

For the question-and-answer format, students access the exam school's common channel, enter the exam room and the corresponding exam subject, and participate in a meeting containing the exam room with their name on it. At the meeting, students will be coordinated to the corresponding question-and-answer rooms, complete the exam procedures according to regulations, and conduct a question draw. Each candidate has 5 minutes to prepare and 5 minutes to present the answer. The lecturer's additional questions do not exceed 5 minutes/student. When the exam ends, students exit the private room and leave the meeting.

For courses with oral exams combined with multiple-choice exams: the multiple-choice exam accounts for 50% of the final exam score. After completing the multiple-choice exam, students stay at the meeting to take the oral exam. The oral exam accounts for 50% of the final exam score.
