Final round of the contest “Talented Tour Guide”: “Falling in love” with the talent of DNU students, businesses “close the door” for recruitment interviews

“I am surprised by the courage, talent, charming way of leading and good situation handling ability of students of the Faculty of Tourism of Dai Nam University (DNU). This is what businesses really need in potential candidates. We hope to “place an order” for interviews to recruit DNU students in the near future”. That is the sharing of Ms. Nguyen Hong Van - Head of Travel - Guide Department of Saigontourist Hanoi at the Final round of the “Talented Tour Guide” contest organized by the Faculty of Tourism, Dai Nam University.

“Talented Tour Guide” is a useful academic playground for students of the Faculty of Tourism to develop their tour guiding and situation handling skills; creating an environment for candidates to demonstrate their own style, talent, courage and personality to businesses. Thereby expanding career opportunities and enhancing competitiveness in the tourism industry.

After going through rigorous preliminary rounds with nearly 100 students participating, the 6 best "warriors" were officially revealed and entered the final race.

The judges of this year's Final round are people with practical experience in the field of Travel - Guide and Training from leading enterprises in the field of Tourism: Mr. Pham Van Bay - Deputy Director of Vietravel - Hanoi Branch, Ms. Nguyen Hong Van - Head of Guide - Travel Department of Saigontourist Hanoi, Dr. Ngo Quang Duy - Head of Tourism Department of Dai Nam University.

The judges were surprised by the knowledge, skills, and ability to handle situations skillfully of the students of DNU Tourism Faculty.

Through their presentations at the Finals, the contestants demonstrated their bravery, talent and deep understanding of Vietnamese culture and history. The six talented tour guides took visitors through a range of emotions, from the heroic feeling of finding the roots of the nation at Hung Temple, to being fascinated by the poetic beauty of Pleiku and being moved when setting foot on historical sites in Hanoi (Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoa Lo Prison...)

Talented guides demonstrate unique, engaging styles and approaches.

Her charming style and good situation handling skills brought the final victory to tour guide Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - QTDL class 15.02. Second prize went to contestant Hoang Van Thang - QTDL class 14.04. Third prize went to Nguyen Mai Dung - QTDL class 16.02.

03 Consolation prizes went to students: Hoang Trong Dan - QTDL class 15.02, Pham Dinh Phat - QTDL class 14.02, Tran Thi Kim Tuyen - QTDL class 15.02.

Sharing after the program, champion Nguyen Thi Thu Huong said: "The competition helped me step out of my comfort zone to be ready to compete and express myself. More than that, I also expanded my opportunities to connect with employers. I hope that the Faculty and the School will have more professional and academic competitions for students to practice their profession, skills and "score points" with businesses."

Dr. Ngo Quang Duy affirmed: The Faculty of Tourism of Dai Nam University always focuses all resources to help students "upgrade" their knowledge and skills; expand opportunities to connect with businesses, aiming for the goal of 100% of graduates having jobs in their majors with good income.

In addition to academic competitions, the Faculty will continue to organize practical experience courses, tour - route survey internship courses... for students.
