After 10 years of construction and development, the Faculty of Construction - Architecture, Dai Nam University has made strong and sustainable development steps; affirming its reputation and brand in the field of training engineers specializing in civil construction and architecture.

10 years of effort for students

The Faculty of Construction and Architecture is one of the first four faculties established at Dai Nam University. The Faculty of Architecture and Construction trains two main majors: construction engineering (civil engineering major) and architecture. Along with the growth of the University, the Faculty of Construction and Architecture has made strong and sustainable developments, affirming its reputation and brand, becoming a training address for civil engineering and architecture engineers trusted by society.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Van Toai - Head of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture spoke at the Faculty's 10th Anniversary Ceremony.

Currently, the Faculty of Construction and Architecture has completed its structure and built a team of qualified staff and lecturers. Up to now, the Faculty has enrolled 11 courses, of which 06 courses have graduated. Actual survey results show that the rate of graduates with jobs in their majors is over 90%. Many alumni of the Faculty are working, performing tasks, and holding important positions in agencies, organizations, and large enterprises.

In order to improve the quality of training, the Faculty of Construction - Architecture of DNU constantly updates and innovates teaching methods and approaches to students. The teaching method of "taking students as the center", learning combined with practice, training linked to practical needs... is the motto of the Faculty.

Identifying that the staff and lecturers are the key to the quality of training, the Faculty of Construction and Architecture always focuses on selecting and perfecting the staff and lecturers. The faculty's lecturers have a lot of experience in teaching and practice, love their profession and students. Teachers are always concerned and seek new teaching methods to stimulate students' desire to learn in order to master knowledge. Not only that, teachers are always close to and support students to develop their full potential.

During their studies, students of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture are given projects that are close to the actual construction of a part or the entire project while still in university. Students often have the opportunity to visit and intern at construction sites and leading consulting companies.

MSc. Duong Trong Chau - Head of Student Management Department; MSc. Pham Van Minh (Head of Business Administration Department, Deputy Head of Training Department; Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Head of Administration Department) presented flowers to congratulate the Faculty of Construction - Architecture on its 10th year of training.

Along with the growth of Dai Nam University, the Faculty of Construction - Architecture strives to be in the top 20 of Vietnamese universities training high-quality human resources in the field of construction and architecture by 2020, making an important contribution to the cause of education - training and sustainable development of the country... Scientific research conference and alumni meeting

To celebrate 10 years of establishment and development, the Faculty of Construction and Architecture organized many activities, of which the most typical were the Scientific Research Conference (NCKH) and alumni meetings.

The conference attracted the attention of many staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture.

Participating in the HNCKH , on the school side, there was the presence of Dr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal; On the side of the Faculty of Construction - Architecture, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Van Toai - Head of the Faculty along with all lecturers and students in the Faculty. In addition, the conference was also attended by Dr. Phan Van Binh, former Deputy Head of the Department of Special Works Management, Ministry of Construction; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ly Tran Cuong, former Head of the Department of Reinforced Concrete, Director of the Continuing Education Center, University of Construction.

In his opening speech at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Van Toai emphasized the purpose and significance of scientific research activities for students' learning and development. He said: "The presentations, comments and assessments of the scientific research council will be an important basis for improving the quality of training and scientific research of Dai Nam University in general and the Faculty of Construction and Architecture in particular."

This scientific research conference has 6 reports with topics of practical application in the industry: " Earthquake load in calculating high-rise buildings" - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Khoa ; "Research on long-term deflection of reinforced concrete beams in Vietnam conditions" - MSc. Nguyen Viet Khoa; "Organizing architectural space of purely agricultural villages in the downstream of Lam River in the direction of ecological agriculture" - MSc. Le Hung Anh; "Beware of explosives left in the ground" - MSc. Phan Van Hau, "Analysis of piles bearing horizontal loads" - Associate Professor Dr. Dao Van Toai.

The reports are considered to have practical significance for students majoring in Construction and Architecture.

The Scientific Research Conference brought many useful experiences to students of Construction and Architecture. “I find this an interesting program, providing students with necessary specialized knowledge, helping me and my friends understand the scientific research method. The knowledge that the teachers have imparted today helps us to cultivate and progress to become future engineers and architects”, Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong (student of Architecture class 12-01) shared.

In addition to the scientific research conference, the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture also included a meeting of alumni in the Faculty. The meeting gathered nearly 100 alumni.

Sharing at the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Van Toai sent his greetings to the alumni who returned to attend the meeting. “Up to now, the Faculty of Construction and Architecture has had 6 generations of graduates. Many of them chose the construction and design fields... and most of them worked in their majors. The Faculty and the University are very happy that the alumni have achieved great achievements in their chosen professions. Hopefully, you will continue to promote your own abilities and apply the knowledge you have learned to practical work,” Mr. Toai shared at the meeting.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Van Toai added that the Faculty and the school really hope that alumni can contribute lessons and practical documents about careers for students of the next generation.

Le Thanh Tung - former student of K4, currently working at the Vietnam National Metrology Institute shared at the meeting.

The meeting was also an opportunity for alumni to express their gratitude to the teachers who guided and accompanied them throughout their university years. Moved by the affection of teachers and old friends, Le Thanh Tung - a former student of K4, currently working at the Vietnam National Institute of Metrology, shared: "During my studies and until now when I started working, I have come to realize that Dai Nam is a close learning environment, teachers are attached to students like their own children. In addition to imparting knowledge, teachers also share life lessons. The Soft Skills subject can be mentioned, which has provided me and my friends with the necessary skills to behave in work and society."

The meeting ended with handshakes, bright smiles and a few quiet moments of the alumni of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture.
