It is known that Tet Reunion - Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital is one of a series of events in the Warm Winter Love program season 5 organized by the Volunteer Student Team of Dai Nam University.
Winter Warmth of Love is a charity project aimed at the less fortunate in society, such as lonely elderly people; orphans, homeless children; homeless people; poor families; children with cancer; war invalids; children in mountainous areas... After 5 years of implementation, Winter Warmth of Love has become a charity program for the community that has created a tradition for Dai Nam University students. The project has received special attention and development support from the Board of Directors.
Not only bringing meaningful Spring gifts and a warm New Year's Eve meal, the members of the Team also want to share, soothe loneliness and emptiness, warm hearts and spread the joy of reunion and happiness when Tet comes to the unfortunate lives at Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital.
From early morning, despite the rain and cold wind, the Team members were present very early at Dai Nam University, Phu Lam campus - Ha Dong - Hanoi to prepare for the journey to bring Tet to the elderly at Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital.
The road from the main road to Xuan Mai Leprosy Center is nearly 2 km long, cars cannot enter, the members of the Team have to walk and carry all their belongings and personal belongings. Although tired, smiles are always on the lips of the young people.
As soon as they arrived at the Camp, the Team members assigned each other tasks and went to the hospital rooms to talk, encourage, and share with the elderly who were suffering from the disease of being shunned and rejected by society...
Mrs. Dinh Thi Nhi - 83 years old, has been sick since the age of 15, has no relatives and could not hide her joy and emotion when students came to her hospital bed to chat, ask about her health, and massage her limbs...
The sobbing of an old man over 80 years old with both legs and arms curled up, with no relatives, made everyone present unable to hold back their tears.
While the team members came to the patients' bedsides to inquire about their health and encourage them, the logistics team was busy preparing a reunion meal for the elderly.
With the sincerity and enthusiasm of youth, members of the DNU Student Volunteer Team brought to Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital a warm and touching Tet Reunion.
The Youth Union Tet program of Dai Nam University youth received enthusiastic attention and support from the hospital's Board of Directors and the patient community.
On behalf of the Team, Team Leader Pham Van Quoc Hung encouraged and wished an early Happy New Year to the elderly at Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital.
Not only did they personally prepare 14 trays of food and decorate the hall to bring the atmosphere of Tet to Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital, the members of the DNU Student Volunteer Team also brought special performances imbued with the atmosphere of Tet.
This is a meaningful spiritual gift that young people want to send to the elderly before the Lunar New Year 2019.
Many elderly people at Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital have no relatives and have to live on government subsidies. Every time Tet comes, loneliness and sadness increase many times over. Therefore, the presence of DNU students is a priceless spiritual gift for them.
Witnessing the unfortunate lives and listening to the heartfelt confidences of the elderly here, many tears were shed.
Not only decorating the hall, organizing the year-end dinner, performing arts, the Volunteer Student Team of Dai Nam University also brought meaningful and warm spring gifts.
It is known that the entire cost of organizing the Reunion Tet - Xuan Mai Leprosy Hospital is money raised by the members of the Team, selling fermented pork rolls, red flags with yellow stars... to raise funds.
The gift, though small, contains all the heart and desire to share of the young people with the unfortunate.
Many stories and tears were shed during that warm and humane reunion. And what the young people of DNU learned was to live life to the fullest while you still can, to GIVE to RECEIVE more fully.
