DNU trains staff and lecturers on the use of online teaching tools

In order to enhance the effectiveness of online teaching and learning during the time students and trainees are off school due to the Covid-19 epidemic, on the afternoon of March 17, at the large hall of Phu Lam campus - Ha Dong - Hanoi, Dai Nam University successfully organized a training session on using online teaching tools for all staff and lecturers in the school.
The training session was attended by the Board of Directors, heads of departments, institutes, centers and all staff and lecturers in the school.
Speaking at the training session on using online teaching tools, Mr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal of Dai Nam University said: “The effectiveness of online teaching and learning depends largely on the teaching tools and the ability of lecturers to understand and master the tools. The training session is not only an opportunity for DNU staff and lecturers to grasp and master modern online teaching and learning tools, but also an opportunity to exchange and discuss to find the most correct and effective directions for this learning activity…”

With the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of online teaching and learning during the time students and trainees are off due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Board of Directors has assigned the Faculty of Information Technology (IT) to plan, content and implement training on the use of online teaching tools for staff and lecturers across the school.

At the training session, Mr. Pham Van Tiep - lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology systematized the necessary and sufficient conditions to conduct online teaching; shared channels and software supporting popular online learning; guided staff and lecturers to install and use software to organize and manage online classes. For each online learning channel and software, lecturers of the Faculty of Information Technology analyzed the advantages and disadvantages, and compared them with the actual situation of Dai Nam University to choose the most suitable online teaching tools.
“Accordingly, during the time students and trainees are off due to the Covid-19 epidemic, DNU will make the most of online learning channels such as: the school's E-Learning training system; Goocus online training system; social networks (facebook, zalo, viber, youtube); gmail, google classroom; zoom meeting, trans... These are all smart online teaching tools that lecturers can use to organize and manage online classes effectively..." said Mr. Pham Van Tiep.
The training session attracted the attention of many staff and lecturers in the school.
Ms. Vu Mai Nhi - Lecturer of the Faculty of Accounting excitedly said: “The training session has helped the staff and lecturers gain a lot of knowledge about using online teaching tools. Understanding and mastering modern tools not only helps lecturers to be confident, enthusiastic, and proactive in imparting knowledge but also helps to organize and manage online classes more easily and effectively…”
Staff and lecturers were excited to learn about online learning software at the training session.
Also at the training session, the staff and lecturers frankly evaluated and learned from their unit's online training activities after nearly 4 weeks of implementation. The issue of class management and ensuring the quality of online training during the time students are off due to the epidemic was discussed to find a suitable solution.
Up to this point, Dai Nam University has implemented online training in most of the courses of the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year. The school has been making every effort so that the learning of students and the school year plan are not too affected by the epidemic.
