Learning combined with practice is the leading teaching motto of all subjects at Dai Nam University in general and in the Soft Skills subject in particular. This is a subject that attracts the attention and love of all Dai Nam students, because students participate in many interesting activities and projects, thereby gaining valuable practical experience, helping to form and develop basic skills necessary for life. One of the special and interesting activities for first-year students in the Basic Soft Skills subject is the activity "Student Meal".

Design and cook your own meal for 20,000 VND per meal

With this practical project, students have to go to the market, cook, bring the results to class to receive comments and receive points from teachers. Each practical group has 6-8 people, and must design meals with a budget of 20,000 VND/person.

A meal with full of vegetables, meat dishes and fruits for only 20,000/person, cooked by DNU students.

Within their financial limits, the groups must ensure the criteria of delicious - nutritious - cheap, at the same time, the amount of food must be enough for all members. With this challenge, students will learn and practice the skills of balancing, managing finances, and adapting to changes in the environment. This is a challenge that makes students extremely excited.

The entire process of shopping, preparing and cooking must be recorded - this forces all members to "roll into the kitchen", there is absolutely no way one person can do it so that the whole team gets points.

The dishes are simple but beautifully presented, making them more delicious.

Through working together and enjoying together, students not only learn teamwork skills but also bond and increase camaraderie. At the same time, this meaningful activity reminds each student how to live and behave appropriately and "smartly" with their own circumstances. To "eat well and dress warmly" without having to worry about being in need tomorrow, we should start today to have a frugal lifestyle - not only saving money, but also extending to saving time and spirit.

Sharing the idea of this special test format, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Head of the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development said: "Most of the students are young people living far from home, depending on family allowances, always having to balance between rent, food, living expenses... Through this practical project, we both train students in necessary skills and suggest them economical meals that are still delicious and nutritious, especially ensuring food hygiene and safety" .

"Talented man, capable woman" DNU.

Cook for yourself and your loved ones

Le Quoc Bao, IT class 1703, shared: “Student meals are an activity I really like because we have the opportunity to work and interact with each other. For the first time, class members can go to each other's dormitory rooms, go to the market, cook, make videos and then present. That not only helps us learn skills related to financial balance and cooking, but also gives us the opportunity to interact, connect, understand and become closer to each other. From strangers in different provinces, we are now quite close and fond of each other. I think studying this subject at university is very interesting, practical and meaningful.”

Nguyen Doan Khang, class CKO 1702, shared: “When I am at home, I only know how to make certain dishes. After this exercise, through sharing with my teammates, I was able to make more dishes, enriching my daily life and I can confidently cook for my whole family.”

Through this project, students not only learn how to make a delicious, nutritious meal together, but also practice the most essential skills to take care of their own lives and those around them.
