DNU evaluates online training experience during student break due to Covid-19

As soon as the Ministry of Education and Training decided to let students nationwide stay home from school to avoid the Covid-19 epidemic, Dai Nam University urgently implemented online learning activities in all 14 majors. In order to evaluate, learn from experience, and find optimal solutions for this learning activity, on February 28, Dai Nam University organized a workshop to review online training experiences with the participation of the Board of Directors, leaders of faculties, departments, institutes, centers, and all lecturers in the school. At the workshop, many comments were discussed.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal said: In the face of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in countries in the region and around the world, students and trainees need to continue to stay home from school to ensure maximum safety for themselves and the community. However, how to make students and trainees stay home from school without interrupting their studies and forgetting knowledge; parents can rest assured about their children's studies; and the progress of the school year plan is guaranteed, schools must calculate and have appropriate solutions.

Dai Nam University is making the most of online learning channels during this time.
Accordingly, Dai Nam University organizes online training on the school's E-Learning system with the participation of 100% of students, trainees and lecturers. Lecturers actively update course materials, textbooks, lectures, instructional videos, and assign assignments to the system so that students can access, self-study, and research at home under the remote guidance of teachers. Online learning channels such as: the school's E-Learning training system, Goocus online training system, social networks (facebook, zalo, viber, youtube), gmail, google classroom, zoom software... are fully utilized during this time.

Mr. Duong Minh Tu, representing the Faculty of Business Administration, reported on the faculty's online training activities.
“In the current passive situation due to the epidemic, organizing online learning is an effective solution to help students not to have their studies interrupted; lecturers continue to contribute; reduce the amount of make-up teaching and learning time after the epidemic... After more than 2 weeks of implementation, this solution has initially shown its effectiveness, receiving positive feedback from lecturers and students..." said Mr. Dong.

The Faculty of Business Administration recommends that the School should have specific administrative instructions for online teaching and learning during the time when students and trainees are off due to the epidemic, and at the same time support the faculties in terms of technology. The Faculty of Finance and Banking proposes a solution to continue to take advantage of available online resource platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, Viber, YouTube, online learning software, etc.; lecturers are required to participate in learning groups, be proficient in information technology skills and have good knowledge of social networks.

The Faculty of Information Technology proposes a plan to collect student interaction statistics; uses class officers as teaching assistants to collect interaction statistics; regularly assigns small assignments and requires students to write them down on paper, take photos or record videos and send them back to the group within a specified time; creates polls on strengths, weaknesses, and effectiveness of learning methods; adjusts teaching time appropriately...
