With the awareness that English is a tool to access knowledge, the key to international integration and opening the door to success for young people, Dai Nam University pays special attention to foreign language training. Specifically, Dai Nam University students must accumulate at least 27 English credits and achieve a TOEIC score of 450 or higher to be eligible to graduate.

Sharing with us, Dr. Pham Van Nguyen - Vice Principal, Head of Pharmacy Faculty said : "Pharmacy is a special field of study, requiring very high foreign language requirements. Therefore, in addition to basic English and TOEIC English , Dai Nam Pharmacy students are required to study specialized English to access in-depth, multi-faceted specialized knowledge and serve their work after graduation..."

In 2019, the Faculty of Pharmacy - Dai Nam University had 62 University Pharmacist Graduation Thesis topics, of which 10 were reported in English, 2.5 times higher than in 2018.

MSc. Dang Khanh Long - Chairman of Defense Council II commented on students during their graduation thesis defense in English.

Defending the graduation thesis in English has become a “tradition” of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dai Nam University. It is quite a big challenge for students , because defending the thesis in Vietnamese is difficult, presenting scientific language in English is even more difficult . However, this is an opportunity for students to improve their English skills, demonstrate their abilities, “beautify their CV” to score points with employers…”, said Dr. Pham Van Nguyen.

Accordingly, each student has 15 minutes to present his/her topic. After presenting his/her topic, the student will answer questions, listen to comments and suggestions from the Thesis Evaluation Council.

Evaluating the quality of the English-language Thesis reports this year, Dr. Phan Thuc Anh commented: “ This year, the thesis topics chosen by students are all highly practical, with a very new, lively and attractive approach. Students are confident and active, demonstrating good English skills and answering the Council's critical questions sharply .”

Dr. Phan Thuc Anh highly appreciated the quality of the thesis topics defended in English.

With confidence, the Pharmacy students of Course 8 successfully defended their Graduation Thesis. With convincing arguments and clear answers to the questions and criticisms of the members and the council, the students received high consensus in the Council's evaluation.

Student Mai Hong Ngoc shared: “ Using English helps me expand my sources of documents, refer more deeply to specialized documents, thereby helping me complete my thesis better. Moreover, using English helps me have better conditions in the future working environment, integrating into the international environment…”

According to Ngoc, during the 5 years of studying at Dai Nam University, Pharmacy students are not only equipped with specialized knowledge but also foreign language skills, presentation skills, teamwork skills, critical thinking skills... throughout the course.

“This is an extremely necessary luggage for us to be more confident when applying for a job, a premise to assert ourselves and succeed at work,” Ngoc said.
