Health sector continues to be in the top 8 hottest university majors in 2021
Since the 70s and 80s of the last century, every high school student when choosing a career passed on to each other the saying "first Medicine, second Pharmacy".
Over time, Medicine and Pharmacy has always been a hot field of study that attracts the top attention of students, especially the number of good and excellent students.
Every year, the rate of registration for admission to enrollment quota in health schools is always among the highest among training majors.

Nguyen Quynh Trang, a 12th grade student at Luong The Vinh High School (Hanoi) shared: "My parents are doctors, so since I was little I wanted to follow in their footsteps. Especially since the Covid-19 pandemic appeared, I have been even more motivated to study medicine. I want to contribute my efforts to the care and protection of people's health. Besides, the demand for human resources in the health sector is getting bigger and bigger, so I am very confident in my choice."
The number of applications for admission to the Health Department of Dai Nam University has increased 10 times compared to 2020.
Since grade 10, student Truong Khanh Huyen - Yen Phong High School (Bac Ninh) was oriented by her family to study Korean language to work in Korean companies in the industrial park near her home.
However, when the Covid-19 epidemic appeared, Khanh Huyen changed her focus to study for group B to take the entrance exam to medical and pharmaceutical schools. "Covid-19 is affecting most professions, but only the medical industry is not affected, even the demand for human resources is greater, there are more development opportunities. Studying medicine and pharmacy not only helps me gain knowledge to protect my health, my family's and the community's, but also not worry about unemployment..." Khanh Huyen said.
Noble profession but always facing difficulties
Sharing with us, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien - Vice Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU said: "Along with the development of the socio-economy, the disease model of Vietnamese people has been changing. Besides infectious diseases, the rate of non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, mental health, etc. is increasing rapidly, requiring a huge demand for human resources in the health sector.
The role and demand for human resources in the health sector is growing, making candidates confident in choosing the health sector.
The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us how great the need for medical staff is as well as their role, hard work, and silent sacrifices in caring for and protecting people's health. However, do not forget that coming to the medical profession, not only is there glory but also has to face countless difficulties and hardships, but this is forever the noblest of all noble professions."
Admissions to medical schools in recent years have had sky-high admission scores due to the large number of applicants. Not only public universities but also non-public universities have equally high numbers of applicants to the medical field.
As a core training axis, the Health block is specially invested in development by Dai Nam University.
Dai Nam University has participated in training high-quality human resources for the healthcare sector since 2013 with 3 majors: Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, attracting thousands of students.
In 2020 and 2021, the school's admissions office received hundreds of candidates every day for consultation and registration for admission to the majors of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing. Up to this point, the number of applications for admission to the Health sector of Dai Nam University has increased 10 times compared to 2020.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Dien - Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dai Nam University, commented: "In the context of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the healthcare system and accompanying services will always be of top concern.
Research in the medical field will increasingly receive huge investments not only from private companies but also from governments.
Besides, looking at it from an objective perspective, doctors, nurses and pharmacists are luckier because they do not fall into unemployment like many other professions. And no matter how the economy, politics and society change, it will not affect the role and function of the health sector too much."
Students of Dai Nam Health Faculty experience an updated and modern training program; a team of excellent lecturers with rich practical experience; the most modern practice and experimental equipment; business internships, hospital clinical practice, etc.
The evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic shows that all countries may face a serious shortage of health human resources, including developed countries with the highest ratio of health workers to population.
The reason is that the pandemic is developing too quickly, many seriously ill people have to be hospitalized in a short time, so the system is overloaded many times.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice Principal of Hanoi Medical University, said that the quality of medical training is determined by many factors, such as human resources, lecturers, training programs, teaching and learning methods, assessment and evaluation, facilities, practice facilities, learners (input quality, learning motivation, learning methods)...
Therefore, to achieve the goal of medical education integration, it is not only about recognizing each other's degrees, but our medical school graduates must also pass the world's licensing exams. To do so, graduates must have real international competence and good foreign language skills.
