Dai Nam University Youth Union launched the 2020 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign

The time has come again! When the phoenix flowers turn red, when the cicadas chirp to call summer, when the bright sunlight shines through the leaves, when the stress of studying and taking exams is temporarily put aside, it is also the time when Dai Nam University students put on their green volunteer shirts, officially launching the "Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2020".

With the slogan: "Green Summer - Live, people love - Do, people trust - Go, people remember" and the spirit of "Green Summer, dynamic, creative, volunteering for the people", for over 12 years, the Green Summer volunteer campaign has always been a semester with countless experiences and valuable lessons that DNUers especially look forward to.

Temporarily leaving their beloved university, 26 excellent students of the Volunteer Student Team, after more than 10 days of training, got on the green summer bus to Sung Trai commune - Dong Van - Ha Giang (a locality with many economic difficulties, traffic obstacles... and a serious lack of domestic water) to donate 55 1,200-liter water tanks to 55 disadvantaged households with a total value of up to 100 million VND; organize free medical examinations and medicine distribution with a total value of nearly 40 million VND; coordinate with the Commune Youth Union to clean hanging lakes in villages; organize summer activities to propagate the prevention of child marriage and incestuous marriage; clean up the environment in the whole commune; coordinate with the Commune Youth Union to open a dirt road between villages and build 55 standard toilets; organize warm and affectionate cultural exchange activities...

This year, in addition to the destination of Sung Trai commune, the 2020 Green Summer Campaign of Dai Nam University also came to the people of Hong Duong commune - Thanh Oai - Hanoi. Here, the Dai Nam University Youth Union presented nearly 200 gifts and prescription medicines to the elderly and people with revolutionary contributions with a total gift value of nearly 50 million VND.

The Green Summer 2020 volunteer campaign will last from July 26 to August 9, 2020.

MSc. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Secretary of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University shared: “ When we are young, we have many choices for our lives. And the members of the Volunteer Student Team of Dai Nam University, you have chosen to dedicate a part of your youth to volunteer activities for the community. Without setting big goals for each trip, each activity program, all members of the Team only keep in mind that they go to grow, go to experience, go to mature, go to apply the knowledge in the classroom to real life... and go to know that they are still... young".

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, to ensure the safety and success of the entire campaign, the School Youth Union organized training for members. Accordingly, all members participating in the 2020 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign were equipped with basic skills, such as: Teamwork skills, cheerleading skills, identifying challenges and difficulties, team spirit of wholehearted support, preparing personal items, practicing some difficult situations, etc.

From early morning on July 26, hundreds of elderly people and people with revolutionary contributions were present at the People's Committee of Hong Duong commune to receive health check-ups, consultations, gifts and free medicine.

MSc. Nguyen Thi Thuy, representing Dai Nam University, personally presented meaningful gifts to the elderly and meritorious people in the commune.

The list of gifts and medicines given out includes medicines for treating bones and joints, blood fat, stomach, iron, blood sugar test strips, dry antibacterial hand sanitizer, antibacterial masks, etc.

The total value of medicine and gifts from Dai Nam University is up to nearly 50 million VND.

With all the love and sincere sharing, the young people of Dai Nam University wish to help and share with the community with practical and meaningful actions.

Free medical examination and medicine distribution is also an opportunity for Dai Nam Medical, Pharmaceutical and Nursing students to practice and learn to improve their professional qualifications.
