Dai Nam University students compete at ProE Contest

After going through a rigorous preliminary round at school, 7 students from Dai Nam University are currently competing in round 2 of the ProE Contest 2018 - a playground for students from universities, colleges, junior colleges, and academies who do not study specialized English.

With the theme “English on the move – English anytime, anywhere”, the contest hopes to create opportunities for Vietnamese students to demonstrate their bravery, youth, and knowledge in areas such as: Industrial Revolution 4.0; IT applications in learning English; social networks…

Commenting on the contest, Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Principal of Dai Nam University said: "This is a very useful intellectual playground, an opportunity for students to practice and improve their foreign language skills, teamwork skills and other soft skills, ready to integrate, become 5 Good students, comprehensive citizens... The school will create the best conditions for students to demonstrate their talents."

The contest video of Dai Nam University students was conceived, produced and completed within 1 week.

In round 2, with the theme “My School is Number 1”, each team participating in the contest will make a video no longer than 7 minutes long and send it to the Organizing Committee. It is known that the 6 best videos according to the judges’ scores and the number of likes on the contest’s fanpage will participate in the regional finals. The finals in 3 regions will select the 6 best representatives to participate in the national finals, scheduled to take place on December 8, in Hanoi.

In just 1 week of planning, writing the script, filming, and dubbing, 7 students from Dai Nam University have tried their best to complete the contest clip excellently. This demonstrates the constant efforts of the teachers and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

“My team and I proactively came up with ideas for the script and asked the teachers in the Faculty and the school to create conditions for filming. Luckily, the school supported us enthusiastically, so the video was completed well,” said Tran Binh Minh, the team leader.

According to Binh Minh, the team members are all very confident in their English ability because from the very first days of entering university, they have been trained in English systematically. It is known that when teaching in class, the teachers of the Foreign Language Department always incorporate new and different methods such as learning through songs, learning through real-life experiences, learning through games, etc. to bring students new and easy-to-understand learning experiences.

Sharing with us, Ms. Pham Thi Oanh - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages highly appreciated the spirit of effort and hard work of the team members: "The competition time is only 1 week, forcing you to focus on your creativity as well as teamwork spirit. I hope that, with the enthusiastic support of the School and the Faculty, the group of students will enter the next rounds and achieve the highest possible results."
