After 11 years of construction and development, Dai Nam University has made strong changes to meet the practical needs of society, becoming a place to train high-quality human resources trusted by society. To achieve that success, it is impossible not to mention the training work. To learn about the advantages and difficulties in the training work of the University, we had an interview with Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong - Vice Principal and Head of Training Department.

-Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong (second from right) has been involved in training at Dai Nam University for more than 10 years.
-Hello Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong! As one of the figures who laid the foundation for the training work of Dai Nam University, could you please tell us about the advantages and difficulties in training students at Dai Nam in particular and universities in Vietnam in general?
In the field of education, if we compare a university to a human body, I consider that training is the backbone and blood vessels of the body. If those blood vessels are blocked, it will certainly affect other parts.
At Dai Nam University, the greatest strength is its people. The staff, lecturers, and service staff are gradually becoming more professional in their attitudes, skills, and expertise. In addition, the school's viewpoint is that "students are customers." Therefore, all of the school's activities are always aimed at students.
Regarding the difficulties of Dai Nam in particular and non-public universities in general, it is the mentality of parents and students who still have a strong idea of public and private schools. Besides, some unnecessary negative aspects of some private schools have partly affected the private school system in Vietnam.
In the current context, the “education market” is becoming more and more competitive as public schools are forced to be autonomous, and students have many choices for their studies both domestically and abroad. This competition is both an opportunity to create equality in the education system but also a big challenge for private schools in Vietnam. To develop, they need to constantly change, position their training quality and be recognized by society.

Not only providing specialized training for students, Dai Nam University also focuses on teaching English and soft skills.
So, how has Dai Nam University transformed and changed to meet the needs of the times, Miss?
The slogan of Dai Nam University is “Learning to change”. We always strive to be a pioneer in change. Modern, active, learner-centered teaching methods are currently being applied at the school. If in the past, education was associated with teachers reading and students copying, now the perspective has changed a lot. Technology 4.0 with its utilities has greatly affected training at universities.
The trend of taking advantage of the benefits of technology will be more and more widespread. Lectures and practice hours of teachers and students can be recorded and shared on the internet. That changes the perception of both teachers and students. If they are still behind, they will stagnate, it will be difficult to determine who they are and where they are.
-Can you share more about the outstanding features and differences in training at Dai Nam University?
At Dai Nam University, training programs are designed in an applied direction, focusing on vocational skills training and improving students' practical ability. Therefore, upon graduation, students have a good foundation of professional knowledge and necessary vocational skills.
One area of training that the school focuses on developing is foreign languages. Dai Nam students will pass the "barrier" of 32 English credits. Spending time studying foreign languages while still a student helps you become a global citizen, integrating into 4.0 early, which greatly affects job opportunities as well as future career advancement.
Not only that, Dai Nam students also experience soft skills subjects such as: university learning methods, communication skills, leadership skills, job application skills... That has made a big difference for the school's students. Graduating from university is also the time when Dai Nam students can fully meet the recruitment needs of businesses without spending more time on retraining.
I know that many Dai Nam students, while still in school, have created their own income by doing internships and part-time jobs. I appreciate your initiative in this matter.
-So, in your opinion, what are the advantages/disadvantages of Dai Nam University students? What are the roles of teachers and students in order to develop more for current and future studies?
In my personal opinion, I think that, on average, the entrance fee of private schools will be lower than that of public schools. Therefore, private school lecturers will have to work harder, and students will have to make more efforts to achieve the output standards. I appreciate the efforts of Dai Nam students in trying to study and improve their knowledge. Maybe, when you first enter the school, you do not have a real love for studying, but when you feel the professional environment and good teaching quality, that love will blossom and develop much more.
Regarding the role of teachers and students, in my opinion, teachers are the center in determining the quality of training and are the ones who guide, steer and inspire students to go in the right direction. Learners are the customers who are taken care of, however, in literary terms, learners can be likened to “having flour to make glue”.
In short, the coordination and understanding between teachers and students is like two hands clapping. If they are in harmony, they will create a big echo.
-What are the values and goals that Dai Nam University is aiming for, Miss?
I think that the goal that Dai Nam wants to pursue to the end is quality. We are making efforts to gradually improve our training programs to meet the needs of society. The school's training programs are built according to a development approach, inheriting the successes and experiences of many prestigious universities at home and abroad, while combining with the actual development trends of Vietnam and the world.
We, the staff, lecturers and students of Dai Nam, are working hard every day to make this school a prestigious educational institution on the map of Vietnamese education.
Thank you very much for sharing! Wishing you good health and continued success in your career!
