Dai Nam University 2020 - a year in review

2020 is a “special” year, full of difficulties and challenges for the education sector when facing and being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, looking back at 2020, Dai Nam University has made many efforts to overcome the challenges and achieved many remarkable achievements.
Dai Nam University was awarded the decision by Hanoi City to be the investor to build a school complex worth 1,800 billion VND.
Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice President of Dai Nam University Council received the investment policy decision of Hanoi People's Committee at the conference.
At the Conference “Hanoi 2020 - Investment and Development Cooperation” (June 27), Dai Nam University was honored to be one of 229 enterprises (the only higher education institution) trusted by Hanoi City to receive investment decisions. Accordingly, on January 10, 2021, the project to build Dai Nam University Complex Phase 2 will officially be implemented with a total investment of 1,800 billion VND.

Dai Nam University has 03 new majors
In 2020, Dai Nam University will enroll 3 new majors in the regular university system, including: Medicine; Japanese Language and Culture; Korean Language and Culture.
All three new majors of DNU have reached their enrollment targets in the first year.
Notably, in the first year, all three new majors of Dai Nam University have met their enrollment targets with high input quality equivalent to public universities in the Hanoi area. In particular, the Medical major strictly adheres to the input quality assurance threshold of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Authorized to train Masters in Pharmaceutical Management Organization
In 2020, Dai Nam University was officially approved by the Ministry of Education and Training to enroll graduate students in the field of Pharmaceutical Management Organization. This is the first year Dai Nam is allowed to train master's degree in Pharmacy after 3 university pharmacy courses graduated.
Dai Nam University officially offers postgraduate training in Pharmaceutical Management and Economic Law from 2020.
Following that success, in August 2020, Dai Nam University continued to be trusted by the Ministry of Education and Training to grant the decision to train the Master of Economic Law degree in an applied orientation.
Up to now, Dai Nam University is training 05 majors at postgraduate level, including: Pharmaceutical Management Organization, Finance - Banking, Accounting, Economic Management and Economic Law attracting thousands of students.
Full enrollment for course 14 in the first round
With prestige and substantial training quality, in 2020, all training systems of DNU have recruited enough students. Accordingly, in the 2020-2021 school year, Dai Nam University has recruited enough 1,820 regular university students registered with the Ministry of Education and Training.
Dai Nam University is one of the few universities that fully enrolls students in the first round and does not have to conduct additional admissions.
Dai Nam University's benchmark score in 2020 is considered equivalent to most public schools in the Hanoi area, with the health sector having a threshold to ensure input quality according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Awarding nearly 500 million in scholarships to encourage talent for first-year medical students
After the 2020 regular university entrance exam, the Faculty of Medicine officially organized training from the 2020-2021 school year. Marking this important event, with the consent of the School Council and the Board of Directors, the Faculty of Medicine held the Opening Ceremony of the 2020-2021 school year for the first batch of medical students.
Dr. Le Dac Son and Dr. Pham Van Tac presented awards to the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Faculty of Medicine.
The opening ceremony was attended by many senior leaders from the Ministry of Health, Hanoi Department of Health and central hospitals.

In the solemn and warm atmosphere of the Opening Ceremony, Dai Nam University awarded Talent Encouragement scholarships worth 50% of the first semester tuition fee for the 2020-2021 school year to 25 new students with high entrance scores, with a total value of up to nearly 500 million VND.
For 5 consecutive years, Hanoi City has selected and honored an excellent valedictorian.

With a final score of 8.62 and a total training score of 95, student Hoang Trung Thanh - Faculty of Accounting became the Valedictorian of Dai Nam University and was honored in the Top 88 Outstanding Valedictorians honored at the Ceremony to Honor Outstanding Valedictorians of Universities and Academies in Hanoi in 2020 (September 7). This is the 5th year that Dai Nam University has had an outstanding Valedictorian chosen by Hanoi City to be honored.
The first university to be personally received by the Korean Ambassador and sign training cooperation agreements with many Korean enterprises
With the aspiration to develop into a leading Korean language and culture training institution in Vietnam; a bright spot connecting students of the two countries; providing students with an effective learning environment that meets advanced output standards; ensuring that 100% of graduates have jobs in their majors, on November 17, 2020, at the invitation of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, the School Council and the leaders of the Korean Language and Culture Department had an official visit and work at the Korean Embassy. Ambassador Park Noh Wan directly welcomed and worked with Dai Nam University.

This is the first time the Korean Ambassador has directly welcomed and worked with the leaders of a university that offers Korean language training in Vietnam. He highly appreciated the goals and aspirations of Dai Nam University to develop Korean language and culture and said he is ready to create favorable conditions to help the school carry out activities to connect the youth and culture between the two countries.
Dai Nam University signed a training cooperation agreement with the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association.
Also in 2020, Dai Nam University conducted training cooperation with many large Korean enterprises, such as: Samsung Group, LG Electronics Group, Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Association; Delta E&C Vietnam Company; Heesung Vietnam Company... and Vietnam-Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA).
The first university in the North to introduce core banking software into training
With the applied university model, Dai Nam University especially focuses on training according to the needs of businesses and the operation of the market. In addition to building the school's businesses to both do business and serve as a place for students to practice and practice; investing in modern equipment, machinery, and skillslab systems; cooperating in business and international training, the school also regularly invites senior personnel in the industry to share and train; and buys modern software systems operating at businesses for students to get acquainted and experience in practice.

Following that success, in 2020, DNU signed a cooperation agreement to deploy a practical banking system with TTF Technology Solutions Joint Stock Company (TTF Solution). With this cooperation agreement, the Faculty of Finance and Banking of DNU became the first training institution in the North to deploy Core Banking software from the famous software company Temenos - Switzerland into actual teaching and training of students.

The Talkshow was solemnly held at the National Convention Center with the participation of nearly 4,000 students of courses 13 and 14.

The cake of love - 9 years of hard work bringing Tet to the poor
In 2020, the "Banh Nghia Tinh" program of Dai Nam University entered its 9th year. After 9 consecutive years of implementation, the "Banh Nghia Tinh" program has mobilized thousands of staff, lecturers and students to participate; raised more than 1 billion VND; teachers and students personally wrapped and boiled thousands of green banh chung cakes to bring Tet to tens of thousands of less fortunate people in society.
With the theme “Tet chia - Tet yeu tinh”, Tam banh nghia tinh season 9 aims to share difficulties with the less fortunate (children with cancer, orphans, people with disabilities, lonely elderly people, homeless people, etc.); show gratitude to wounded soldiers, families of martyrs; educate personality, help students live more responsibly towards themselves, their families and society. What is proud is that over the past 9 years, the Tam banh nghia tinh program has not only spread to generations of Dai Nam students but also spread throughout the country. Spend 2 billion VND to join hands with the community to prevent Covid 19
Faced with the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Nam University has approved a support of 2 billion VND for the Faculty of Pharmacy to prepare dry hand sanitizer gel according to the WHO formula and support supplies for frontline hospitals to receive and treat Covid-19 patients.

Through this activity, Dai Nam University wishes to share with the Vietnamese medical sector, the doctors and nurses who are risking their lives day and night to protect the health of the people... Not only that, Dai Nam also proactively registered with the city's Epidemic Prevention Committee to be ready to reserve the school's dormitory and 3-star practice hotel in Hanoi as a quarantine facility for people returning from the epidemic area when Hanoi City needs to requisition it.
Teachers and students donated nearly 100 million to buy water tanks for people in the Ha Giang stone plateau.
In order to join hands to help people in Sung Trai commune - Dong Van - Ha Giang solve the problem of domestic water shortage during the dry season, in the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2020, Dai Nam University donated 55 1200-liter water tanks with a total value of nearly 100 million VND.
Over 600 million to support students in flooded areas of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh
Although the Covid pandemic has caused difficulties for the whole society, teachers and students of Dai Nam University still tighten their belts and use their small salaries to donate and share with the people of Central Vietnam to overcome the consequences of the flood, especially the education of students.
Dai Nam University cooperated with Soha.vn and Thien Tam Fund to bring tens of thousands of students to school in the flood-hit areas of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh in 2020.
After just a few days of launching, the amount of donations reached 581 million VND. The school spent nearly 100 million VND to support 18 students in difficult circumstances due to the impact of floods; the remaining amount was used to buy books, school supplies, and warm clothes to help tens of thousands of students in flooded areas in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces go to school.
