A few days after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the regulations for the 2015 national high school graduation exam, many teachers in Ho Chi Minh City said they did not know how to review for their students.

A few days after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the National High School Graduation Exam Regulations, many teachers in Ho Chi Minh City said they did not know how to review for students.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training, the 2015 national high school graduation exam mainly covers the 12th grade curriculum. However, it is unclear whether the exam will also include the 10th and 11th grade curriculum and what percentage.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc, Principal of Gia Dinh High School in Ho Chi Minh City, said that although the Ministry of Education and Training has just officially announced the 2015 National High School Exam Regulations, based on the Draft Exam Regulations announced earlier, the school has planned and prepared many review options for students. However, Ms. Cuc is quite concerned about the exam structure. "The exam structure is not clear, still general. In fact, teachers and students all want a specific exam structure for review," Ms. Cuc said.

Ms. Cuc gave an example, in previous years, the exam structure was very specific, such as what percentage of questions were from the 10th grade curriculum, how many from 11th grade, and how many from 12th grade.
Another issue that Ms. Cuc is concerned about is whether this year's exam will require a division of subjects. For example, in 2014, teachers reviewed for students with the intention of having two optional programs including basic and advanced, but then the exam had a section that intersected the two programs. "And this year, once again, the Ministry did not clarify this issue, so it is difficult to guide students' review," Ms. Cuc said.

Many students and teachers are still wondering about the exam structure.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Do, Vice Principal of Thanh Nhan High School, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Education and Training should officially announce the exam structure and the amount of knowledge for grades 10, 11 and 12 so that teachers and students can review together, and should not let teachers and students review and guess the exam structure at the same time. "In the near future, the school will organize about 6 mock university entrance exams for students. The school will prepare the exam questions themselves and predict the exam structure according to the correct time and number of questions set by the Ministry so that students can get used to it," said Mr. Do.

According to Mr. Do, the unclear structure of the exam will cause difficulties for newly graduated teachers and independent candidates during the review process because independent candidates mostly study by themselves and do not know what to study or how to study.
In addition to the exam structure, another issue is that the English subject according to the official exam regulations recently announced by the Ministry of Education and Training has an additional essay section, while the previous draft only had multiple-choice questions. “This is a sudden change, which may surprise many students and teachers because everyone has spent a lot of time reviewing in the direction of only multiple-choice questions for the past few months,” said Mr. Do.
Meanwhile, to adapt during the time when there is no specific exam structure, Principal of Gia Dinh High School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc, has asked teachers to focus on teaching the 12th grade program.
