Business internship from the first year - the secret for 100% of DNU IT students to have jobs right after graduation

According to statistics, every year, the whole country has 55,000 IT students graduating. However, only about 30% of them meet the requirements of the labor market. There are many reasons for this situation, including the fact that students rarely have internships at businesses during their studies, and there is no close connection between IT businesses and training institutions. Realizing that, Dai Nam University is especially interested in developing training cooperation activities with businesses to create a professional internship environment and jobs for students after graduation. Implementing that policy of the University, the Faculty of Information Technology has implemented synchronous measures to strengthen cooperation with businesses during the training process, successfully achieving the goal: Bringing students to businesses from the first year and continuously throughout the course.

Promote the transformation of training programs towards increasing IT internships

Dr. Tran Dang Cong - Head of the IT Faculty of Dai Nam University said: In order to send students from the first year to practice at enterprises, the IT Faculty has rebuilt the training program. The new training program of the faculty has many advantages to create capacity for students to meet the immediate and relatively long-term requirements of the market. In addition, right from the first semester of the first year, students have been taught programming, data analysis, soft skills, and IT applications in enterprises.

“This is the premise for DNU IT students to be able to intern at large IT companies right from their first year,” said Dr. Tran Dang Cong.

Dr. Tran Dang Cong added: The IT internship course is one of the highlights of the new training program. This is the course with the largest number of credits among the training courses, accounting for 23% of the training time. The IT internship course (4 credits) is conducted in 7 semesters and graduation internship. Thus, it can be said that students are able to do IT internships in all semesters. This is a clear change in the training program, creating conditions for students to study and practice to meet market requirements.

Currently, the Faculty of Information Technology has a department responsible for teaching IT internship courses. The department includes lecturers with many years of experience working in IT enterprises, solid in theory, and familiar with typical 4.0 technologies.

Strengthening cooperation with businesses

Dai Nam University signed a training cooperation agreement with KB Vietnam Securities Joint Stock Company.

Cooperation with businesses in the training process is being promoted at the Faculty of Information Technology. The cooperation brings about the desired results for both sides.

Specifically:

Enterprises have the opportunity to give feedback and make reasonable adjustments to training content to meet their own requirements. On the other hand, receiving and guiding internships for students can be considered a process of actively preparing human resources for enterprises.

The school has the opportunity to adjust the training program, the lecturers grasp the reality, ensuring the success of the new training program. Students practice and intern in a professional, modern environment and have good job opportunities after graduation.
