Not only is it a beautiful memory of youth, Green Summer (MHX) is also a semester with countless experiences and valuable lessons that sometimes university lectures cannot fully convey.

Student Volunteer Team of Dai Nam University.

Someone said that if each person's life is a movie, then student life is the most vibrant, beautiful and meaningful film.

When we are young, we have many choices for our lives. And the members of the Student Volunteer Team (SVTN Team) of Dai Nam University, you have chosen to spend part of your youth on volunteer activities for the community.

Without setting big goals for each trip or activity program, all members of the Team only keep in mind that they go to grow, go to experience, go to mature, go to know that they are still... young.
DNU volunteers in the MHX 2019 campaign in Den Sang - Bat Xat - Lao Cai.

Temporarily leaving their beloved university, 28 excellent students after more than 10 days of training boarded the MHX bus to Den Sang - one of the most difficult communes in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. Here, the Dai Nam University Student Volunteer Team carried out many meaningful activities to help and share difficulties with the people.

Join us to listen to the feelings of a volunteer in the SVTN Team about the MHX 2019 journey to better understand the love, enthusiasm and youthful aspirations of Dai Nam University students!
DNU volunteer team braved the rain to move to Den Sang.

“That night, I couldn't sleep, not because of the mosquitoes or the heat, but because of the excitement and happiness of having my name on the MHX list this year.

00:00 when everyone was fast asleep, we, the SVTN Team members, eagerly moved to the gathering place and busily loaded our belongings onto the vehicle. The moment the vehicle started moving, we turned on “network security” mode and disappeared from social media for more than half a month.
The marches in MHX 2019 of the SVTN Dai Nam Team.
Bat Xat welcomed us with a heavy rain. The flood made it impossible for our vehicle to continue moving, so the members had to hurriedly get off the vehicle, unload their belongings onto another vehicle to go to Den Sang. Hungry, tired, cold, but just seeing the smiles of our teammates, we were ready to "bathe in the rain" to complete the mission. The breakfast was just a handful of sticky rice brought by the logistics team from Hanoi, but everyone of us ate it very deliciously and happily. And it seemed like it was the best breakfast we had ever had.
Starting the first days in Den Sang, we gradually got used to waking up early, having breakfast and marching to each house in the commune to help dig septic tanks - a job that I had never had to do before. When the first hoe strokes in Den Sang were started, my teammates and I realized how "happy" our student life was.
In addition to helping people dig holes, we also carry out many other activities, such as: propaganda to prevent drowning and child sexual abuse, playing with children, organizing exchanges with people, giving gifts to families in especially difficult circumstances in the commune...

DNU SVTN team propagates drowning prevention and first aid to people in Den Sang commune.
The images of children listening attentively; the eyes, smiles and handshakes full of gratitude from the people made us extremely "happy", giving us more motivation to continue the MHX journey.
And the most meaningful experience was the days of marching far away, staying in local people's homes. We had the opportunity to understand more about the life, culture; hunger, poverty; wishes and aspirations of the people here. Those are experiences that we could not imagine and understand if we just sat in the university lecture hall.

Going to MHX is hard work, but there is nothing more fun than it. Those are the days when the whole team gathers together to cook a “super big” pot of rice, and just a little carelessness can make the rice “raw” or “burnt”. Those are the small gifts from the Den Sang people after each day of marching. Those are the “secret” moments of the logistics team, the life-and-death battles between the Four Heroes Party and the Women’s Union. Those are the days when the country was lost, the whole team had to build “bathhouses” in “remote” places, the first person to bathe and the next person to bathe, brothers and sisters relying on each other to survive. Those are the warm collective birthday parties, the “spin the bottle” nights to tell all their thoughts and feelings…
14 days together, 28 people fighting side by side, there were tears, smiles, but most importantly, we understood each other better, sympathized with each other more. That night, perhaps the first night in my life, I stayed up all night listening to what my teammates' hearts were saying. The words of advice that our seniors passed down to us, it soaked deep into our hearts...

If you are a student, try joining MHX once so as not to waste a beautiful youth. When our children grow up and ask us what our youth was like, we should tell them, “Sit down here, we will tell you about a legend…”
