At the meeting, Dr. Hung shared that steel structures are widely used in the world in general and in Vietnam in particular. Steel structures give us advantages such as fast construction, can withstand heavy loads, and have large spans to create large spaces.

However, steel structures have some disadvantages that need to be overcome: they are easily eroded by the environment, and under the influence of high temperatures, the structure quickly deforms and becomes unstable.

Therefore, Dr. Hung introduced to the teachers and students of the Faculty of Construction - Architecture of Dai Nam University about steel structures, which are the research results of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Construction of the University of Sydney. This is a new construction technology that creates thin steel plates with a thickness of 1mm to 3mm with a strength of up to 700Mpa. To get thin steel, people use steel plates with a thickness of about 5mm to 6mm to run through a steel press system. Our steel plates will gradually decrease in thickness while the strength will increase because the steel molecules are pressed closer together.

After obtaining high strength steel plates, people will cut them and shape them according to the requirements of the construction structure.

The steel press and forming machine can be transported to the construction site to directly produce modules and assemble them, which minimizes transportation work and helps increase construction progress.
Like conventional steel structures, high-strength structures need to be powder-coated to prevent environmental corrosion and increase the life of the structure. However, for high-strength steel structures, special attention must be paid to the problem of crack formation.
At the talk, students of the Faculty of Construction - Architecture of Dai Nam University gained more specialized knowledge from leading experts, contributing to equipping them with more knowledge and practical application after graduation.
Dr. Hung expressed his compliments to Dai Nam students for their passion for learning, quick learning, and flexibility in the learning process. The University of Sydney always creates many learning opportunities with many scholarships for students of the Faculty of Construction - Architecture of Dai Nam University to study and research.
