With the goal of "learning goes hand in hand with practice, theory combined with practice", Dai Nam University has achieved many achievements in innovating teaching methods. At Dai Nam, all subjects spend up to 70% of the teaching program time on practice. That is the difference at Dai Nam University. Especially, with the major of Public Relations and Communication (Public Relation - PR), combining theory with practice is very necessary. Students of the PR faculty, Dai Nam University, during the study process, will have practical experience, organize and participate in events, get news and write articles like a media officer, a professional reporter.

Especially, with the major of Public Relations and Communication (Public Relation - PR), combining theory with practice is very necessary. Students of the PR faculty, Dai Nam University, during the study process, will have practical experience, organize and participate in events, get news and write articles like a media officer, a professional reporter.

After each subject, students have new feelings. Nguyen Thu Hien, class PR 0701 shared about the field trip, collecting news to complete the assignment of the subject "Writing news, PR articles". Below are Thu Hien's feelings about effective practical learning methods:

Receiving the assignment and guidance from Ms. Le Thi Nha - lecturer of the subject "Writing news, PR articles", our group quickly made a plan. My group's task was to do a PR topic for Diem Quan Ho village in Bac Ninh.

Work enthusiastically

The group's first stop was Cung Temple - Ngoc Well and the temple complex worshipping the Quan Ho Ancestor, the quintessence and birthplace of Quan Ho singing.

Although we had thoroughly researched the actual location before going, the first time we arrived here, everyone in the group was very worried about the assigned task. Would we be able to collect unique and interesting information for our article? How to contact the artists for interviews? Would it be easy or difficult to exploit information sources?... However, when we met the open and friendly Quan Ho villagers here, all our worries gradually subsided.

The most “lovable” thing about this Quan Ho village is the smile that is always present on the gentle, hospitable faces of the people. They are kind and helpful when we ask for directions and addresses of people we need to know. The village communal house keeper and the temple security guard have volunteered to become “ professional tour designers ” for us who want to learn more about the history or places associated with many ancient folk tales that have been passed down for a long time in Diem village. They will enthusiastically advise you on who to go to hear the best Quan Ho songs, where you should visit this tourist spot, what you will learn from there…

Following the introduction of Mrs. Tu, the Mother Goddess Temple, we went to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ban, a famous artist of Quan Ho singing, to learn about the birth of Quan Ho melodies. The conversation took place right at Mrs. Ban’s private home, in a cozy, intimate space, we felt like we were her family members. The atmosphere of the interview to collect information became a close, open conversation. She was happy and told clearly all the stories surrounding the origin of Quan Ho singing. We sat around listening attentively and did not forget to write down the necessary information to serve the homework of each member…

Worthy result

After a day of fieldwork, we returned to Hanoi with a very confident mood about the documents and information we had collected to write news and articles. Each of our articles shows our dedication to the topic of research. But to achieve the best results, our articles will have to pass a round of checking and comments from the subject lecturers to complete the highest quality product.

During the assignment review session, our product was recognized and highly appreciated by the lecturer for both content and form.

This is a way of learning that makes learning “softer”, creating an atmosphere for students to do well in their assigned assignments. Commenting on this learning method, Nguyen Phuong Thao – PR7, Faculty of Public Relations and Communications shared: “ Through this field trip, I found this to be a very useful learning method, helping us to approach the problem directly, and also easier to collect information for writing materials, bringing high efficiency and results to our writing”.

Nguyen Thi Quyen - PR7 also excitedly said: " I really want to have more practical lessons like this, to study and visit and travel to my favorite places. These practical lessons allow me to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class to real life, making learning easier and more fun."

PR is always an interesting and dynamic major. I love PR because of that. Through each subject, my friends and I not only learn the necessary knowledge about communication, how to get news, write articles... but we also experience together through practical trips to do exercises like a reporter. I realized that choosing to study PR and Dai Nam University was completely correct. Dai Nam University will be the place to equip me with the knowledge, helping me confidently become a media officer in the future.

Below are some pictures of the field trip and product launch of Group 2, Class PR-07 (Faculty of Public Relations and Communications):

The group edited the article before the comments and evaluation of the subject lecturer.

The lecturer's comments are handwritten by members on their assignments so that they can complete them well.

Bui Huyen Trang - member of group 1 is rushing to design the group's exercises.

Review before product launch

Group 2 members are giving their opinions to group 1.

The product review and scoring session took place in an exciting atmosphere.
