Challenges and orientations for Fintech human resource training from an expert perspective

Dr. Nguyen Tu Anh - Director of the Center for Information, Analysis and Forecast, Central Economic Committee of the Party shared: The wave of Fintech development in Vietnam has taken place in the past 15 years, reflecting the integration with global trends.

In 2017, Vietnam had only about 48 Fintech companies, but now the number has exceeded 200, showing remarkable growth. The development of digital technology has blurred the lines between technology companies and financial institutions, opening up many opportunities for innovation and creativity in this industry.

Dr. Nguyen Tu Anh said: Choosing a school with a good foundation in finance and technology, along with close connections to the market, will bring great advantages to students.

Dr. Can Van Luc - Chief Economist of BIDV; Member of the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council; Director of the Research and Training Institute, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam said that there are still many difficulties in training human resources to meet the needs of Fintech development in Vietnam.

Accordingly, universities currently still face some difficulties in choosing suitable majors and building effective Fintech training programs; The team of lecturers specializing in Fintech is still limited; The practical ecosystem for students majoring in Fintech and digital banking has not been strongly developed; Students have not been clearly oriented about career opportunities and suitable positions after graduation.

“To solve this problem, there needs to be a close connection between schools, businesses and financial institutions,” said Dr. Can Van Luc.

Dr. Can Van Luc brought to the Workshop a lot of useful information and practical recommendations for Fintech development in Vietnam.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Ngoc Duc - Director of the Institute of Financial Technology, Dai Nam University also emphasized: “To train Fintech human resources to meet the needs of the market, it is necessary to focus on two important factors. First of all, the teaching staff needs to be well-trained, not only having a solid grasp of theory but also having practical experience. In addition, students need to regularly participate in practical activities, group work and real projects to be ready to enter the labor market immediately after graduation”.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Ngoc Duc said that it is necessary to focus on building and developing long-term and short-term training programs on Fintech in Vietnam.

Different Fintech training model at Dai Nam University

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Ngoc Duc said: The papers presented at the Workshop are valuable references for Dai Nam University to develop Fintech training programs for students.

He also added that the school's Fintech training program has 3 distinct characteristics:

Firstly, students are trained 100% in Vietnamese, providing convenience and creating a solid learning foundation for students, especially in the context that most international Fintech documents often use English.

Second, the program closely combines theory and practice. Students spend 50% of their practice time in a modern lab system, helping to develop practical skills during the learning process, preparing them for future work.

Third, training is linked to leading Fintech businesses. Students do internships and gain practical experience right from their first or second year of university.

"After graduation, Dai Nam students can start working immediately without needing additional training time, while minimizing risks for businesses when accepting new employees," Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Ngoc Duc emphasized.

Prof. Jo-Hui Chen - Chung Yuan University, Taiwan said: International cooperation plays an important role in helping students develop comprehensive skills, while enhancing scientific research capacity and training program development. These efforts will contribute to affirming the name and position of Dai Nam University in the field of Fintech training.

Prof. Jo-Hui Chen highly appreciated the scale, academics and professionalism of the 2nd International Fintech Conference organized by Dai Nam University.

The 2nd International Fintech Conference marks a new step forward for Dai Nam University in keeping up with global trends. The event also creates a solid foundation to promote international cooperation, improve training quality and meet human resource needs for the Fintech industry in Vietnam.

Choosing Dai Nam University, Fintech students will have the opportunity to study in an advanced environment, practice intensively and expand career opportunities with the companionship of leading experts in the field.
