05 great meanings were especially emphasized by Dr. Le Dac Son at the 14th Anniversary of Dai Nam University

On the morning of November 19, Dai Nam University solemnly held the 14th Anniversary of the school's founding (November 14, 2007 - November 14, 2021) and the 39th Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20. The program was organized online with the participation of all staff, lecturers and employees of the school.

At the celebration ceremony, Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University shared very sincere and emotional words to the "colleagues" of DNU. Below, we would like to quote the original text of his speech!

Dear Teachers, staff and employees of Dai Nam University!

Every year in November, our school organizes a rally to celebrate the school's three major holidays. These are the opening of the new school year; the school's founding anniversary (November 14) and the Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20).

This activity has become a tradition of Dai Nam University since its establishment. However, this year, the Covid-19 epidemic has reversed the living, working and studying habits of society in general and our school in particular, so we have to organize a rally online to celebrate 3 important holidays.

Dear Teachers and staff!

If you are suddenly asked “What is the most important day of the year?” You will probably be surprised and may think this is a pointless question because in everyone’s mind, birthday is a very special day in everyone’s life. It is the day you were born and also the day to show gratitude to your parents. If everyone’s birthday is so important and sacred, then the founding day of Dai Nam University is also of great significance to the founders, teachers, staff, employees and students working and studying at the school.

Today, Dai Nam University celebrates the 14th anniversary of its founding (November 14, 2007 - November 14, 2021) with many meanings, the most prominent of which are 5 great meanings:

1. Remembering the "birthday" of Dai Nam University November 14, 2007

The birth of a person can be compared to the mother's labor and the father's anxious waiting. The birth of a university like Dai Nam University is the result of hard work and effort in developing a training project, through the approval of state management agencies from the Ministry of Education and Training to the Prime Minister. On November 14, 2007, exactly 14 years ago at the Hillton Hotel - Hanoi, Prof. Dr. Banh Tien Long - Deputy Minister of Education and Training, on behalf of the Government, presented the decision to establish Dai Nam University. I was appointed as the first Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University. Since that day, Dai Nam University was officially born in the Vietnamese university education system.

2. The school is grateful for the "contributions" of generations of cadres, lecturers and staff who have joined hands and hearts to build Dai Nam University since its inception and grown over the past 14 years.

Many people have joined our Board of Directors in building the School from the very beginning. We can mention here Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong, who was then the secretary of the School's Founding Council, who participated from the day the Dai Nam University Project was established to be presented to all levels from 2005-2006 until now, Ms. Huong is currently holding the position of Vice Principal of the School.

We do not forget Dr. Vu Thi Lien - former Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam - the first Principal of DNU from course 1 to course 4.

Many teachers have made great contributions to the school but due to old age and health, they have retired, such as: Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Van Toai - former Vice Principal of the University of Construction, former Head of the Faculty of Construction - Architecture; Dr. Pham Van Nguyen - Former Vice Principal, Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Many old but very healthy teachers have contributed to Dai Nam University for many years until today, such as: Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Trong Phuc - former Principal from 2010-2017; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ngoc Bung - Deputy Head of Pharmacy Faculty; Dr. Nguyen Thuc Anh - Pharmacy Faculty...

And now many new teachers come to Dai Nam University in Faculties, Departments, Offices, Centers, Institutes to continue the generations to join hands to build the school to develop.

On behalf of the School Council, I would like to express my gratitude to you, the teachers; thank you, the staff and employees working at Dai Nam University. The teachers and our School Council are together carrying out a great mission of "Growing people" to create knowledgeable and capable people to build our country Vietnam strong for future generations.

3. Looking back at the growth of Dai Nam University over the past 14 years

If in the first school year 2007-2008, the School only had 30 permanent lecturers; facilities had to be rented and there were only 05 training majors (Finance - Banking, Accounting, Construction Engineering, English Language, Chinese Language); Course I enrolled 230 students, Course II enrolled 1080 students, then after 14 years, we now have:

+ Nearly 800 permanent staff and lecturers.

+ Spacious and comfortable facilities at the two campuses of Vu Trong Phung and Phu Lam. Dai Nam University complex in Ha Dong is gradually being built to become more spacious and modern.

+18 undergraduate training majors; 05 graduate training majors and 01 doctoral training major.

+ Nearly 30,000 students are studying and have studied at the school.

The above figures are the clearest evidence of the strong and sustainable development of Dai Nam University. It is the result of the hard work, dedication and tireless efforts of the entire Board of Directors, the Board of Management, teachers and staff with the motto set out from the beginning as “Accumulating trust” from learners, from management agencies at all levels and from society.

It can be said that: OUR WORK HAS BEEN REWARDED.

Marking the maturity of the School in many aspects, we cannot fail to mention the maturity of the School's staff and lecturers, especially young staff, such as: Ms. Do Thu Huong - Head of Training Department, Ms. Cao Thi Quynh - Deputy Head of Admissions Department, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Deputy Head of Training and Soft Skills Development Department, Ms. Do Thi Hai Ha - Deputy Head of Pharmacy Department... and many other young staff and lecturers who have all matured.

We are proud of our staff and faculty. They are people of excellent character, always dedicated to their work and to their students.

4. Connecting the feelings of each member in the School

Today is the day when all staff, lecturers and employees meet in person (unfortunately we cannot shake hands, celebrate and raise our glasses of wine to congratulate each other).

However, through online sharing, the representative images of teachers sent by the Organizing Committee show the affection that binds us together. We are family - wishing each other good health and a happy life. At work, let's support each other to solve everything as quickly and as best as possible. In life, let's be happy and harmonious together, building sincere feelings to live happily together.

5. Building the relationship between the University and each member of Dai Nam with the social community is also an opportunity for us to make a statement to the community about the quality of DNU students that have been and are being trained to meet the requirements of society and the needs of employers.

Dear teachers!

14 years for an organization like Dai Nam University is not long, but we have overcome countless difficulties and challenges to have a valuable and massive asset from zero like today. Dai Nam University's asset is not only the training facility built on a large plot of land, not only nearly 800 cadres, lecturers, employees, not only 30,000 students who have studied and are studying at the school, but the "greatest asset" of Dai Nam is "the trust of society", is "a team of dedicated cadres and lecturers" over the past 14 years have cherished and built to have that social trust.

We have had to work hard to build and gain the trust of society, so we must be determined to keep it, determined to cultivate it according to the motto of "accumulating trust" every day, every hour, every staff, every lecturer, every faculty, every department, every office, so that that trust will grow bigger and bigger; so that "Dai Nam University will be the first choice of students when graduating from high school before the threshold of university"

- With the long-time teachers of the School: The teachers have understood the culture in work, in teaching, in managing and taking care of students, in interpersonal relationships... I believe that the teachers will continue to work with us to build the Dai Nam Culture more and more clearly.

- For new teachers: We recommend that teachers "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" quickly integrate into the school's working culture to bring the most and best possible benefits to students.

- For guest lecturers: Our school thanks the teachers who have taught our students for many generations over the years. It can be said that, among thousands and tens of thousands of teachers at universities who are working or have retired under the state regime, being invited by a university to teach and work is a source of pride for teachers that not all teachers have that happiness.

Therefore, we recommend that teachers consider their teaching at Dai Nam as an important job, inspire each generation of DNU students through their lectures, and be an example for Dai Nam students to learn not only about knowledge but also about ethics, communication style, and behavior at school. We always respect and welcome teachers with such spirit to join us.

Dai Nam University today is still young, not a big university like the leading universities in Vietnam. However, small does not mean not strong. We have enough confidence to quickly break through to become a big university in the Vietnamese education system in a short period of time. I hope teachers from other schools will support us.

With the staff of the departments: Admissions, Training, Testing, Accounting, Administration, Human Resources, Communications..., over the past 14 years, you have done your job very well, devoted yourself regardless of time to serve well the management, construction of facilities; admissions of the school; especially managing and serving well the training of the faculties and departments of the school in accordance with the issued regulations. I would like to thank and appreciate your efforts.

Final words for today's meeting on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the school's founding and to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day, on behalf of the School Board, I would like to wish all teachers, staff, and their families good health and happiness.
